Received a pre-recorded call from (03) 5198 7471- asian chap stating he was from the Australian Tax Office and that I had Tax Avoidance Issues pending and that an arrest warrant had been issued for my arrest. Instructed to ring a 1800 number or have lawyer contact that number. Have contacted Australian Tax Office, because I know that my issues are all good. I believe that this is a scam and others should be alerted. Tax Office has noted this and investigating.

Silly me! I ordered online via website which stated - Australian citizens only & backed by a well-known Aus. personality (who it appears is completely innocent)
There was no Confirm Order screen, so was charged $200 extra & was unable to alter the order. Rang original contact number (USA based, with recorded message only) Rang this number at 3pm & American accented-recording informed me it was out of business hours.
BIG SCAM. The bank is chasing my lost money.

yes, we received 2 msg from (03) 5198 7471 requesting us or our lawyer call this number regarding registered mail that had been returned undelivered and unsigned. Also it gets better, if we do nothing there will be a warrant for our arrest and our landline ph no and address is under surveillance...lol

Received same call (recorded) several times over last few days. Was not at home when calls were made. The media should be alerted about this nuisance. People should hound Telstra and other Service Providers to block this pest.

6 messages left over 2 days stating "sedition notice filed against your name...." (no name stated, ".....call 03 5198747to avoid legal course of action"

We have received the same pre recorded message twice now. Once on our answering machine and once when I picked up. The ATO is not going to contact you via a recorded message to warn you of your pending warrant and subsequent arrest. At no point did they name me either.

same here - called twice today, Irish lilt to accent - recorded message - telling me there was a warrant out for our arrest and that there was tax avoidance, and that we had not responded to correspondence...have reported to scamwatch.

I called the ATO and reported the call. It is believed to be a scam.

I received a recorded message to say that legal proceedings are about to be filed for tax avoidance/evasion and that "my" account will be suspended and an arrest warrant will be issued. They did not state who they were or who they were contacting - just this address and phone number. It was also stated that registered mail had been returned.

pre recorded call today from tax department claiming l had tax avoidance and threatening warrants and arrest. stating l must or my lawyer ring that number back. thing is no stating who they are directing this call to ,for all they know they could have been talking to the dog or cat111

Received the same type of "pre-recorded" message. Very annoying!!

I have had the same message - 6 in the past 2 days. Please remember that if the Tax Office has an issue they will always notify you in writing.

This is a scam caller or recorded message that calls your phone and say they are from the Australian Tax Office and are going to sue you for tax evasion. They are trying to get your personal details. Do not give them any personal information

Claims I have account suspended due to tax avoidance and tax fraud. Call this number or you might be issued a warrant for arrest.
