An attempt just now; no doubt the use of a shonky number fools some people. They're trying a gain as I write.

I just wonder if Telstra is selling all these 'Australian' numbers so that scammers can ring up from overseas with a valid Aussie telephone number. How else can they obtain these numbers? It is no wonder so many people are shutting down their landline numbers because of these ongoing daily scammers.

Seems to be a common complaint. Says he (Indian voiced man) is from Telstra and that I have a problem with my internet and if I could turn my computer on he could fix it. I've told him on a couple of occasions that I have not had a problem with my internet and I'm not interested. Why can't Telstra do something about these people??? I'm now going to block this number.

Claimed he was from Telstra and that I was having trouble with my internet - which I was not - then wanted me to turn my computer on so he could "fix" it!

This is the usual Telstra computer virus/hacker scam from a supposed Indian call centre. All lies to get at your money. Nothing is working to stop these Indian call centres persisting with this pathetic behaviour. The DoNotCall register is useless; the Australian government (ACMA) is limited in what they can do, which is sending warning notices to the Indian businesses if they can find out who they are; the Indian government apparently has been cracking down on many of these call centres, but these call centres are still persisting relentlessly. Then there are the Indian Lead Generation call centres which are persistent and again lie to get at your money. Just hang up.

Rang saying they were from Telstra and was very persistent and kept trying to tell us that there is a fault with our internet and that he had to check our ip address and reset our router. Tried to ring back but when you ring the number is apparently "disconnected"

A young lady with an Indian accent on a scratchy phone line, pretending to be from Telstra, saying there's a problem with my computer and wishing to take control of my computer. With that, I told her she just called a number on the Do Not Call Register and then I told her about "s*x and travel" ie. to F-Off in no uncertain terms.

Callers from this number claim they are calling from the technical department of Telstra and will advise you that have detected somebody trying to hack into your computer- they are very convincing and tell you they need to gain access to your computer so they can remove the hacks and install software to prevent future hacks ---- this is a scam!!!!!!!!!

This number is a scam, with the cover being a 'registered wealth organisation'. My God, what a joke.
