Michael, EXCELLENT IDEA!!! I'm in the process of going thru the 21 numbers that I already have listed in my directory, putting them all on silent. Thank you. Now I really want them to call, to see how it goes ;D

Am getting very annoyed on these calls. So frustrating as being an aged pensioner it is beyond a joke to get out of your chair and then have someone not speak to you.Get a life and go annoy your own family and see how they feel!!!!!!!!!

2 calls in three hours on a Saturday. didn't recognise the number so didn't answer. if I had my way they would be outlawed and all employees fined heavily if they continued.

Thanks for the information. Here is some advice that may help with these sort of unwanted calls.
a) NEVER answer a call whose number you don't recognise. Instead, write the number down & google it on these "Who Called.." sites, and take appropriate action.
b) If your phone has the capability, ban or exclude such numbers.
c) Never call them! That's when they get you forever more.
d) I agree with other comments from users here such as: "If they don't leave a message then it's not important". Too true.
e) If your phone has a ringer volume that you can turn off, do so at such times you don't wish to be annoyed. i.e. dinner, romance, relaxing, friends or family visiting. Please remember, no phone call is so important that you should drop everything for.
f) Most of us have mobile phones, if a caller is your family, friend or work collegue - they will ring, SMS or text your mobile.
g) As we have discovered, a silent number or being on a Do Not Call Register does NOT keep these creeps away.
e) Why should you change your number (unless they are now harassing you on another level).
f) I too get these idiots calling, but I ignore them. Also, check the prefix (02) is a Sydney number. If you don't live in Sydney or know anyone who does, then don't answer. Especially if the same number keeps calling -- it's Telemarketers, spammers or a hoax.
I hope this helps. PS - the box "Call type" lists various nuisance call types & you can only chose one, but all your comments & mine include ALL those "Call types"

Have had 2 calls from this number - it's 8.15pm - isn't there a cut-off time that they can't call before in the morning and after in the evening? And yes, this is a SILENT number (what a joke), and on the do no call register. It pisses me off that not only can these groups ignore the register, but they get to put their electionerring rubbish in my po box - political, educational and charitable material can ignore the no promotional material instruction (I checked with Aust Post).

Phoned me twice so far tonight. The first time I picked up, then hung up when I heard what it was. Ten minutes later they phoned back so I let it ring out. Did the *10#, got the number, then came to this website. So annoying, especially when the Do Not Call Register states that charities, political parties and educational institutions are the only types of people who can get around the register.

Its a News Poll survey thing. Fight fire with fire and try and get the home number of managers with News Poll and ring them at the most inconvenient times. Just tell them you want to do the survey now. Remember to turn your caller ID off.

Nuisance call on a Sunday. I am on the do not call register and still get telemarketers thinking they can invade our privacy. Enough is enough.
