Just cancelled TPG after shocking customer service, e.g. 20 minutes on the phone and 6 different people after calling to cancel and the last one told me that you can't cancel by phone you have to email cancel @ tpg.com.au but no one else on the phone was authorised to tell me that! Minutes later I get a missed call from this number asking me to call back. TPG are the worst. Do not call this number back.

Caller: SCAMMERS
Called me in a shockingly thick accent to say they were from NBN. They wanted to send a technician to connect my NBN. I said 'huh' are you from iiinet - because I have received all the gear and will do it myself. No she said she was an NBN technician that could come to my house and connect it for me. I thought to myself - great! I said will you cost anything? No she said ot is free! I said no thanks I can do it myself. Then she said - what is your address - I said it, then she asked what is your date of birth? I said are you from iiinet? No she said - we are from "NBN"
Woke up to myself and said - sorry scammer and hung up. Rang iinet they have not heard of NBN sending a technician - and are reporting this number yo the authorities.

They called and cut off right away. If it is how TPG does their customer service then I should move to another provider!

This is the call center for TPG internet.
TPG also includes several subsidiaries such as iiNet (Australia), ADAM (Adelaide and my current provider), Internode (Adelaide), and likely other more local ones, like ADAM, from your particular state, is Westnet still around. So if you are a customer of any of those and get a call from TPG, its likely a legitimate call, moreso if you, like me, are waiting for a callback on a problem with your connection.
BUT if they are calling you out of the blue, or trying a hard sell. Tell them not interested in any offers and do not call unless it is directly related to a current connection issue.
If you are not a customer of any of the subsidiaries, then tell them to take your number off the list and don't call again.
If you are not already I suggest adding all of your home and mobiles numbers to the 'Do not call registry' for Australia, a quick google should find it for you, it will have a .gov.au as part of its URL, so is safe to use.

This number belongs to TPG, returning a phone call to keep us updated on the outage in our area. Not a scam at all.
