This is a real and legitimate number from Westpac. If you get a call from this number - answer it or call back immediately. I transferred money from my transaction account to a Glibal currency card as I am about to go overseas and literally received the call less than 60 seconds later to confirm the transaction. It is a huge relief to know the bank is actually monitoring transactions and looking out for customers. Thanks to them I know my money is safe.

Legit call. I got a call today from St George. They had put a block on my credit card after I made a number of similar transactions in the realm of $400 (four of them) and $900 (another four of them). I googled the number - arrived here - and called back. A recorded message said it was a bank (gave me a choice of banks) and provided the phone number to call them. I then called my bank and had to confirm the transactions were mine. They had blocked my Visa debit card. If you get a call from them - I recommend you call back immediately as your card is probably blocked. As Nat said - better safe than sorry.

Received a text message from Bank of Melb. (I am set up for text) regarding fraudulent activity on my credit card. They called (on a nsw number) when I replied to the message that this was fraudulent activity in the usa using my card. They didn't ask me financial details (which is good). I then called the 1800 number for Bank of Melb to check that I wasn't being scammed by the text. They confirmed that it was legitimate, and the card has been blocked with a new one to be sent out. Great service!

Westpac authenticating credit card transaction. Didn't answer and received a text asking whether transaction was genuine, which it was. A block was placed on the card and the yes answer removed the block (within the next 20 mins)
