Tubemakers of Australian Limited Yennora was the only manufacture of ductile iron pipe in Australia after 1992 . It was a world class plant that supplied DI Pipe to Australian and International standards to markers in Australia and most of the counties in the Asian Pacific region . Pipe was exported to the UAE for many of that counties projects.
With the acquisition of all of Tubemakers by BHP Steel in 1996 and with the sale of Tubemakers Water to Tyco International in 1999 the future was becoming difficult to plan. The plant remained profitable until 2011 and in 2012 the Tyco Flow Control division was merged with Pentair incorporated . after almost 51 years of service to the Australian and regional water industry the plant was closed and demolished in 2013 the last pipe was cast on February 28 2013.
It is expensive making pipe in Australia because workers get paid a realistic wag to pay their bills . All that is left of the plant is a group Facebook page and the spirt of the workers who meet regularly as brothers of the Yennora Ductile Iron pipe Plant.

I worked at Stanton Pipe from 1965 to 1971 as a Fitting Machinist apprentice. I'm looking for an old friend John Sukanow (I'm not sure of the spelling he was from Germany and we rode around Australia together
