This is the Energy Australia retention team - they call you when you move to another energy provider

Had some nob call me during my lunch saying they were from Energy Australia and wanting my Surname and address before they could reveal the nature of the call. I said sorry you called me, I don't know you, I don't give out my personal info to cold callers or strangers. Goodbye and hung up.

I have spoken to energy Australia 3 times since I chose another provider. And now I have had 2 missed calls as well. Before I left EA I had told them I was looking at deals with other providers and so they have had plenty of chances to offer me something that would keep my business.

Wanting my personal details out of the blue. As if I'm just going to tell them my personal details to someone I don't even know.

These are legitimate calls. I have dealt with Energy Australia and the call related to me transferring away to another company.
They told me it is a retention call and they wanted to confirm that my home account going to another company was true.
Unfortunately the privacy laws state that they are now allowed to tell you information about why they are calling until you have been identified.
So this is not spam. It's honest people, doing honest work
