This number is legitimate for AMEX Fraud. I checked it back through the 1300 number on the back of my AMEX card. AMEX verified the number as legitimate. Best to always call the 1300 number under all circumstances - recommended by AMEX.

Caller: AMEX fraud Alert Very sophisticated scam. First you'll get a text message asking you to verify a charge. You'll probably reply '2', not a valid charge. Then you'll get another text message asking you to ring them & the number included. You can click on the number & then go through to the recorded message, and everything sounds ok. The female recorded message will tell you that "iIve already identified you from the number you're calling from" & then "please enter the last 5 digits of your card". which you can, all good to here. Then, that won't work & you'll be asked to put in your card number.... Don't. The trick is that they are counting on you believing it's legit because you dialled from your mobile, which is usually linked to your credit card. That's the scam. If you dial the number from a completely unrelated phone, you get the same message. Watch out.

Got a call from this number. The lady on the phone asked if I speak Chinese (I do), and then just started talking in Chinese to me. But come on, this is Australia and if anyone start talking in Chinese without consent in a business call, it is a scam! She said someone tried to open an AMEX account under my name, and I just hung up on her. I then called AMEX on 1300 132 639, they checked and there is no one trying to open an account under my name, and it is definitely a phishing call. The phone number may be legitimate but scammer nowadays can use any number to call from their system. They could use 000 to call someone if they want to!

This is definitely a scam. They called my work and sent me an id kit link making it look legitimate. The other comments are definitely the scammers trying to validate the number when it is definitely a scam. I contacted AMEX by phone, email and live chat and they all said it is fake. It texts from a fake AMEX private number the real one should have Amex rather than AMEX in caps. I have no idea how they found my work but the email they sent me, the trademark date was 2017. They have used my identify as notified by the ATO.
The number is NOT on the website. When you search this number on google, the number the amex website comes up as its searching in related this this number, which is the real amex fraud protection n number. (02) 9271 4110 is the right number. Beware this is definitely a scam.

Caller: (02) 9271 4110 It’s a fraud call. The woman spoke with non Australian local accent, saying there was a transaction on my Amex card buying illegal medication. I ran Amex with 13number, Amex security checked my account. There was no suspicious transaction at all.

Caller: Amex (John Smith) A male caller claimed to be Amex staff with a heavy Southeast Asian accent and said his name was "John Smith" & enquired about a transaction. I immediately hung up the phone. I contacted Amex via their official online portal and they said it's not from them.

Caller: AMEX scam guy I just received a call from (02) 9271 4110 and the guy saying that he was from AMEX and I had fraudulent transactions on my card. He needed to know my details to confirm that it was me so AMEX can cancel my card and send me a knew one. He knew by full name, my address, my email address but then what made me suspect a scam is when he asked me for my card details including my full card number including expiry date and pin. I asked him to email through to me a list of suspicious transactions on my card and run through with me the last few transactions on the statement of my AMEX card so I can also get him to validate that he really was calling from AMEX but then he became very annoyed with me, speaking over the top of me, and extremely unprofessional. I ended the phone call and called AMEX on 1800 507 104. They confirmed that there had been no suspicious or fraudulent transactions on my card. This was definitely a scam. Don't answer calls from this number.

Caller: (02) 9271 4110 This is a scam. Whoever up there in the comments said it's not would be working for the scammer. The number is a genuine Amex number, BUT IT IS SPOOFED. If you call back, you will be put through to the actual Amex team, who will then deny having ever called you. But I also wouldn't call back the number either, just in case. I would call an actual listed Amex number either on the back of your card or the Amex website and then go from there.

Caller: (02) 9271 4110 For those who think it’s a genuine call from American Express it’s not - it’s a scam. All recording sounded legit from Amex but the plot twist is that I’m not an Amex customer and I don’t even have a credit card. For those who believed it’s a legit call please google ‘spoofing’. You’re welcome!
