If they were/are legit they should leave a voicemail explaining reason, people will then judge for themselves. Otherwise I won't be picking up. Over to you Amex if you're the real deal :)

Someone using this CallerID attempted some sort of scam. Our defences are fairly good so they got dismissed.

I received a legitimate call from this number, following up an enquiry I made earlier in the week. It was the same person that I spoke to when I called Amex and she was just calling back to confirm they had fixed the issue I had.

Confirming it was a call from AMEX Travel Dept calling back for an update on my requested re-booking of flights

People are saying it's AMEX. I got the call and I'm not an AMEX customer. Be careful.

Called today - didn't leave a number - called in December 2021, September 2021, July 2021, and June 2021.

By previous people stating its AMEX - I don't have an AMEX card and won't be using one ever.. so scam.

This is a legitimate number for American Express. They called to follow up an application I had made.

It was 100% American Express, not a scammer. They called to confirm a transaction that raised a fraud alert. No issues.

Legitimate call following up an issue I had raised yesterday. It was the same person I spoke to yesterday when I called, and they were following up on resolution of the issue and clarifying information they had given me yesterday. I was initially a bit hesitant to give them information to confirm my identity, but it was evident they had knowledge of my issue once they explained further.
