Today, 13/02/2019 I answered a call on my landline, with this number printed on my screen of my telephone. I believe this is a scam computer generated number. If you pick up your landline phone and there is a brief connection time, with low level connection sounds and a foreign accented person begins to talk to you, with a call that is unexpected, be very wary. Scammers lie to the person who answers the call, often quoting that they are representatives of legitimate companies, such as Telstra or Optus. The whole aim is to scam that person of money - and they are very good at it! My advice is this - if you get such a call, take note who they say they are representing, and as quickly as you can, disclosing absolutely no information about yourself (especially your name) put down the phone and ring the legitimate company on the company supplied phone number to ask if the call was legitimate. Do not ring back on the number the scammers use. My advice from Telstra is that they never cold call - they wait for the customer to ring them with any problems experienced with their internet or phone services. Don't be fooled, for if you are scammed it can cause endless problems - emotionally. financially, with various businesses/government departments and a lot of time-wasting. I am writing this to warn people that I believe this phone number was used as part of a scam. You make the decision whether to reply or nor to this number. I am only writing to tell what happened to me.
