scam caller pretending to be from Westpac Remediation Team

Caller: Supposedly st george westpac and 2 other banks.

The best scam I've ever received. Just block the call. Thoroughly well prepared and knowledgeable. Just block.

Caller: Someone purporting to be from St George bank

Its a scam not real. I called St George and they verified that this is a scam. Do not listen to any comments here saying its legit. They were likely written by the scammers themselves to make their elaborate scam sound legitimate

I spoke with a guy named Corey who said I had an unclaimed cheque when St George and westpac merged. I was charged for incorrect interest rates on my mortgage.

I thought it was a scam at first, but it was a legit call. Had $377 owing to me.

Caller: Simon - Westpac Remediation

I had several calls also - answered last one and when they asked for my details I asked for the details to be loaded onto my account and I would go into Branch. First visit to branch they said there was nothing on my old account so I passed it off as a scam. I went into branch again today and got a different person who could see the notes on my old account. After a quick ID check in person I now have Westpac a $1700 refund coming my way - all done in branch on secure platforms.

Caller: Westpac Remediation Team

Got a voicemail message from Westpac on my old mobile number, haven't banked with them for 10 years. Apparently a cheque they sent me 3 years ago for a credit card fee refund hasn't been processed. They would have sent this to my old address I reckon. I phone the legitimate Westpac number and got put through to someone who confirmed it was legitimate and they will electronically transfer the funds to me in the next batch, which could be up to 6 weeks. Only had to provide my name and mobile number and they asked me 3 yes/no questions to confirm my identity.

I can confirm this is legitimate, the call was to follow up a refund cheque from westpac that I had not cashed from years ago. I was once a westpac credit card holder. I called westpac direct and confirmed the number 1300 130 866 is a register westpac number and then called it and they had the refund processed.

Caller: Stephanie

Stephanie called from Westpac Remediation team and left a message. My (not so) smart phone blocked the call and identified it as spam.. Westpac owed me $65 from an incorrect charge from years ago. I'm no longer a Westpac customer and I had moved address twice so they couldn't locate me. Long story short, I rang my local Westpac and confirmed the call was legit. I then rang 1300 130 866 and spoke with Corey who processed my refund. Happy days

This turned out to be a legit call. I received a very suspicious call from Stephanie from Westpac’s remediation team saying that they sent me a cheque that I haven’t claimed yet and started asking me personal questions to verify my identity. I told I’ll hang up and call Westpac, I called Westpac through their secure app, and was transferred to Connor who confirmed this is legit. They processed a refund for the unclaimed cheque

Ok I got one as well. Claiming to be from the St George Remediation team. I only answer calls from numbers I know these days. I screened the call and got a transcript. Load of BS ... blocked!

Got this call from some claimed to be from Westpac Bank remediation team and also sent a voicemail to call back. It looks like a scam. Be careful. Thank you for all the people who posted on this site. I just ignored it.

Already had a lot of info on me, had called me several times from (02) 9155 7505 left me message to call back on 1300 130 866 seemed legit so my funds should arrive in 5 weeks

Legitimate caller. Westpac banking group re remediation for overpaid interest. Verified this is really Westpac group.

Just got off the phone from an Aussie-speaking person in regard to my deregistered company. He told me the account is now frozen and I can't access the old business account. He asked did I want to proceed with the deregistration of the business bank account or call back later. I told him I was driving, and would call back later (works every time). He mentioned I could call any Bank of Melbourne branch and ask to be put through to the remediation team and then I would be talking to him. Hung up and blocked the number

Spoke of a company close d down 15 years ago. I hung up

Claimed to be from St George remediation centre. Blocked the number. Scammer.

This bloke said he was from the St George remediation team wanting to talk to me about my fathers deregistered company. What the??? When I confronted him about how he got my name & phone number, he hung up. Big red flag right there. Then you call their number back & the menu says they're from Westpac, St George, Bank of Adelaide & Melbourne etc. St George don't know the number & nor does Westpac. GUARANTEED scammers. No doubt at all.

From Westpac - Sanctions department about a transfer i made. Email followed up as well. DONT NOT CLICK ON LINKS. Rang both Westpac and St George and they said it was not them.

Please note is a scam call. They will leave Australia accent message in your voicemail. Asking you to call back 1300 136 866. I call up Westpac bank to check for interaction message. Proven to be a scam call.
