Has rung twice and, as Nick says, does not leave a message and hangs up - does anyone know who this is?

Received a phone call from this number - had no idea who they were - I answered the phone with my name and the person on the other end promptly hung up on me.

The deal is it's on computerised dialing system. If phone answered, there is a pause during which time the computer establishes a "live" lead. Basically it's harvesting live numbers as leads on sold to telemarketers. The way to deal with this is to pick up phone and don't say anything, wait for their response first. Another way is to mimick a fax machine noise. Your number will be deleted.

As per other complaints, rings and disconnects. This has only started about 2 weeks ago, with similar numbers calling and hanging up. I am no longer answering calls that look like this, or if I accidentally answer them, I then add them to my blocked callers list

This number has been calling at least twice a day for the past two weeks... I deon't answer but it doesn't leave a message.
