Same deal for me - some dropkick with thick accent asking if I'd been in a car accident. Had looked up the number before answering so knew it was a scam and said I knew he was talking crap. Told him not to call again.. We'll see I guess.

Apparently I had a car accident and they needed to know some details. I asked them, "which one [car accident]?" and they hung up. They're persistent ... so now I block them.

I had an Irish guy call stating I had been in a car accident two months ago. I started crying and literally used the plot of I Know What You Did Last Summer to screw with him (Claimed I had hit someone but because they were dead, I dumped the body etc.)
There was dead silence on the other end of the phone. The he began stuttering and stammering and wished me well before he hung up. Who says horror movies aren't useful?

I too got one of these calls (thick northern English or northern Irish accent) - I pressed them for the number they had tried to call and the name - they said, the number on the caller ID but quoted my name back to me so these calls aren't entirely random I suspect.

Call from a guy with thick accent saying he was from an insurance company asking to discuss my recent car accident. I have never had an accident and I don't drive. Scam!

Irish dude just rang me (seriously wish I had kept him online now for the accent!) Asked for me by name, sounded a little confused like he forgot what he was supposed to ask for then said he was calling me about a recent car accident. My car was in an accident without me, may IT rang them up? Anyhoo told him he was a scammer just in case he didn't know and hung up on him. Had my freaking name!! WTF??

I had an accident involving a post in my garage and played the guy for 20 minutes.. he said the other person has already made a inconvenience claim against me which my insurance has paid out. I said "I didn't know posts could talk" He started laughing and knew he was scam and I told him I'm surprised he's here because I don't see Telemarketers on the 457 list..

yes - got a call from this guy. Accent as described. Sounds like he's in a room like a call center.

Just got this call, told him, "Look mate, my last accident was my fault, I hit a kangaroo, if you are insuring kangaroos, then sure, I will have a chat"
He laughed, apologised and ended the call.

Guy with Irish accent, asked for me by name, trying to implicate me in a car accident. hung uo when I ripped into him. Wonder if he got my name and contact details from my legitimate insurer, Budget Direct? He got them from somewhere, so I'll enquire of them.
