It's CBA, they're following up from a home loan application I opened but did not proceed with via Netbank. Any time you demonstrate interest in a product and they have your details they will call to see if why you didnt go ahead. Harmless but annoying. Just block.

I've got the call from this number today as of 31/3/2016. The girl asked my date of birth so she is sure she talks to the right person. I declined. And after reading your previous comments, I thought I did a right thing. I also rang back and got the same message. After that, the phone stopped.

I got similar call, however when I called the bank via 132221 number they did confirm from the log, name of the person and when he called. It was all clear.
It was not a scam for me. I would suggest to give a call direct to bank.
Cheers

I have received this call aswell, called back commonwealth customer care. The call is a legit call the reason they are asking for details and not advising what the relation of the call is for is because its their collections team, Being a debt collector i understand the guideline they actually arnt allowed to advised the reason for the call unless they have 3 points of ID confirmed

I have received two calls from this number this week but did not answer. I called the number back and got a recorded message "You have received a courtesy call from the Commonwealth Bank". I then rang the Commonwealth Bank and checked if they had tried to contact me. They had not. This sounds like a scam and I will be blocking the number.

I called the number with the same results reported elsewhere, however I followed this up with a call to the CommBank and they have verified that it is in fact a CommBank outgoing number. I mentioned that cold calling customers like that is not the best way as most people would be suspicious and rightly so.

Got a call tonight. No voice mail left. Called CBA. They have no recollection of number, no notes in relation to my banking - they said treat as suspicious.

The first thing they want is to identify yourself with details besides your name. How would I know whether this is phishing or a genuine call? They claim to be from the Commonwealth Bank. There is no way to call back or to identify the person who is calling you. Since more and more companies and institutions have this same practise nowadays, I start to understand why Australia has one of the highest identity theft and fraud in the world.

I just got a call from this number on (02) 9083 7100 today. Instead of asking my CBA security pin, the girl asked my DOB and home address, I declined.
It really sounds like a scam to me.
