Rang landline, numbers outside local area are blocked to reduce spam/scam callers. Didn't answer when rang back. Suspected scam caller.

Caller: Scammer pretending to be Optus This caller (lady with Indian accent, with call centre background noise) claimed to be from Optus, offering a percentage off my mobile bill for the next 4 months. Then she texted me a verification code, after which she asked for my DOB to “activate the discount”. When I questioned her motives, she insisted she had to get my DOB to activate the account before she could send me the confirmation email. When I asked for a number to call back to verify her claims she quickly gave me their “billing department” number (02) 8607 5001 - which also looks to be a scam from other reviewers). I hung up and called the real Optus to verify and of course they said there’s no such offer. So beware!

Caller: Amazon The call from (02) 9071 2869 was saying i was going to be charged for amazon prime subscription. If i wished to cancel press 1, speaking to an operator, had me download Ultraviewer to access my laptop, then I had to download a Cancel form to complete. The form asked for the Bank name and last 4 digits. When i said the operator I was concerned that this was a scam. She handed me top a 'supervisor' who was wanting me to login into my internet banking on my loptop, that was Red Flags, all the time i was saying this was a scam. I closed the laptop by the power button, thank god this disconnected the access.

Caller: Call centre Whenever I get one of these calls I say how is the weather in Kolkata and which level in the Genesis building are they calling from. Instant hang up. That's where most of these scam calls come from.

Caller: They hung up Why is it Australia telco wont do anything about all these scam calls? There are so many of them now when you block them they just ring from another number. It's getting to the point where I'm just going to leave the phone off. I blame the telecommunications industry- how hard can it be to just switch off known scam numbers?

Caller: Scammer The eBay scam. "Your account will be charged etc etc blah blah blah scam scam scam". I LOVE to lead these low life deadsh!ts on so I wasted his time with some pretty good acting if I do say so myself lol!! "Oh no! Someone has hacked my account? Oh what do I do? Please help". So I let them waffle on for ages - I figure if I am wasting their time then they are not calling some poor unsuspecting person. Then I tell them what I think of them with that four letter word that starts with c, (and it's not 'Covid'), then I tell them I have put a curse on them and their entire family. Of course I haven't, I wouldn't know how, and their parents probably don't have a clue that their son/daughter is a dirtbag scammer - but I do get immense satisfaction out of tell them I have.
