I have a friend acting as an advocate for my energy bills so don't even know how they got my number. Probably sold on from another list or online purchase I did.

Hi, how do you know it was an energy provider? This is very interesting. I've long-suspected someone has sold my number (waste of money since I wouldn't sign up to anything), but I couldn't figure out who it was. I thought it could even be someone who works at Telstra. My mum recently bought a new phone with a new number from Optus, and before she had updated her details with any service providers, she was scammed over the phone by someone saying they were with Optus and they hacked her computer :(.
