Predictive dialers ring the numbers, not people.. The best way to 'fool' the computer when it rings looking for a person to send to the headset of a telemarketer, 'Hello, you are speaking with <name> how can I help you today?'
Most of the time the computer will hang up as it thinks it is an answering machine.
If you just say 'Hello' the computer will think a person has answered and in the 2 or 3 second silence your call is getting sent from the auto computer to a telemarketers headset..
As for Do Not Call Register, it does not apply to Charities, so even if you register you will stop telemarketing from companies but not for profit, government and marketing research can still call.

I have had calls from this number and others in the same range (02 903256XX) over the past 4-5 weeks. The first time I answered they asked for a different person and they we agreed it was the wrong number. Then they kept calling. How do they get around the do not call register???

I donate to charities. If these people cannot give me the courtesy of providing a clear message outlining their intensions and the ability for me being able to return their call. I DON"T CARE WHO THEY REPRESENT< THEY CAN GET f*ckED AND WILL RECEIVE NOTHING FROM ME.

Repeatedly calling to cold canvass additional money (I already donate regularly to them) and never leaving a message identifying who is calling. Very pushy. I wont be answering again.

When you call back you can't distinguish the name of the company.

Amnesty are a pain in the a**. They ring you daily, sometimes twice daily until they give up after a few weeks. And if you do pick up while at work or changing a nappy etc, they don't seem to understand that you don't have time for an update on genocide at the moment. They also do the annoying thing where they ring until it rings out, then they immediately call your other number (mobile or home) and do the same again. It's tempting to pick up after 400 rings and scream "are you for real????"I've also asked not to be called on previous Amnesty call-out campaigns, but here we go again apparantly.I find it interesting that you all get the same thing too.Seriously, for the $600 I have given every year for over a decade, is not being harrassed for more money not too much to ask for? It's enough to make you consider cancelling you donations, which is sad really.

How did you find out it was connected to Amnesty? I donate monthly to them as well and have been getting one call every business day since the 11th of Feb. I don't think I ever gave them my number tho (they're calling on my mobile). I've never answered as I've had experiences on my work and mobile number with nuisance calls before and have also heard that answering the calls makes them more frequent... what happens if you do answer, do you actually speak to a real person? You'd think a charity would be more responsible with their calls! How do they think they're going to win new members or keep old ones by constantly bugging them with calls day after day?!!

I have had two calls from this number in three days. It's for a company called 2evolve, they do cold call marketing for not for profit charities such as amnesty, I donate with amnesty and this is a regular thing! Getting a bit over it to be honest! Hope this helps

I was rung by them again the other day, and this time I answered. Before the woman at the other end had a chance to finish her spiel, I said that I had been called every business day (minus one week) between the 11th of Feb and now (you'd think if there was no answer every time they'd get the message!) and would she kindly take me off her calling list. We'll see what happens now. If they try again I'll give them the "I'm reconsidering my wish to keep donating to you". At least the woman was polite, not too wordy and said she would take me off the list. And it's better than a scam or a fax call (just). it's a real shame, because they do great work, but their pushy marketing style really lets them down. They're losing potential willing donors this way. Particularly students who can't afford to "consider increasing their monthly donation from 10 dollars to 20 dollars".

We have also been dragged into this after donating to Save the Children. 2evolve have phoned us 5 times in the past week. My husband phoned Save the Children and complained - told them that we have a private number and have never consented to having our details released to a third party and now, because of this we will never donate to them again. We requested to be removed from their list and this has apparently been done, however it has not stopped the calls from 2evolve.
2evolve rang again last night at 6.45pm during dinner. I told them we were not interested and wanted to be taken off their list. Let's see if the calls stop.....
