I had missed calls, they kept calling, I answered - Its Optus doing a survey on customer service... so it appears. Sounds dodgy tho.

Really starting to get annoyed at the volume of calls being received by me and people I know from Optus or "reps" spruiking dodgy deals. I've been screwed over by Optus too many times.

It's Optus Customer Service. Their phone system is programmed to show this number when they call you, because this is the number (probably part of a range of numbers, actually) that's allocated to use for outgoing calls via their phone system.

The reason it 'rings out' when you call this number back, is because it's set up for 'outbound only' use - in other words they use this line to call out from, but it isn't connected to any incoming telephone lines on their phone system. That's why it just rings out if you call it.

also a missed call from that number...i'm starting to think its probably optus or some random company trying to sell a 'better' phone deal..

I just had two missed calls from this number and i called it back and it just rang out...I dont answer numbers that dont start with my state's area code as usually they are just annoying call centres trying to sell something!!Go away and leave me alone during work hours!

Just got a call from this number at 11.55pm on a Sunday night on my Optus prepaid mobile.If it's some Optus overseas call center then they need a good kick up the a** for calling at such ridiculous times.
