I received 11 missed calls from this number following a complaint I lodged with Optus to cancel my contract, apparently it's an Optus hotline number and I only get a recorded message from Optus when I try to call it back.

This is definately optus, but I think it is a default number, because I answered it and it was a really helpful consultant helping me with an enquiry I had made earlier, and she took it on her own back to find a better plan and switch it over, and she was calling me back to tell me.

I just got two calls from this number.
Optus is not only annoying, but also persistant.
I only use my moblie phone for SMS.

Love how they don't speak when you answer and then when you ring them back you're on their recorded message getting charged. Taking all four of our family off Optus and moving to another provider.

Missed the call but thought it was probably Optus as I had spoken to someone day before with a query. Thanks for confirming.

Sample complaints we have found for (02) 9027 8000

NS

I received calls from (02) 9027 8000 and (03) 9033 4560 all day last Friday, ,the last one at 11.45pm,it seemed (At least in my case) to be an automated survey about your experince with Optus,I had called them after my phone wouldn't work one day last week and the tech support people told me how to fix it.Not happy with their survey though and I told them so this morning

I'm not here

I called this number back from a land line at work, and got a voice mail telling me it was Optus and if I want to talk to support call xxx, if I want to talk to [Blah] call xxxx and if I want to talk to someone at Optus....  The call then terminated. As Troy said, it sounds like that scam a few years back.I wonder what is going on at the bill side of things

Tony

I had a dispute with Optus about a fee charged on my account, had this number call me. Picked up, no voice. Call disconnected after 5 seconds.
Called back, it did the whole Optus spiel telling me to contact their main numbers.

John

Got a miss call from this numberWhen I called back, I reached a recorded voice message"Welcome to Optus ,bla bla bla"Got no idea where they've got my number since I got nothing to do with Optus

I missed the call from this number today, I was wondering why they didn't left me voice mail. Now I learned from you guys it's Optus. I just asked for sacking Optus for my mobile phone services, they must be calling me for this reason.

I received a call from this number claiming to be from optus and asking if the phone number was related to "The Australian Small Scale Offerings Board" business - which it isn't (weird thing is- I worked for this company approximately 6 months ago)they then promptly hung up.

A few minutes later i had my mobile phone ring from a malaysian investment company - with the number (02) 8209 4700 - after "baiting" the caller by sounding excited in their product I asked if they had just called my landline number - to which they replied Yes !  - I also asked where they obtained my details from and the caller said that they buy customer details from Optus and Dunn & Bradstreet !

I called optus (my home phone carrier) with this info as the the malaysian caller had initially identified themselves as being from optus.  after some discussion and what seemed like a "do not care" attitude from optus - I was informed that Optus definately sell off customer details and also banks are starting to as well.  Optus could not stop my details from being sold and could only offer to register on the Do Not Call website but there was no way that my email or street address details could not be stopped from being sold - the only option I was told was to make our home phone number silent.
