I too just recieved a call about the competition described by others in this thread. I selected two since telstra is already scamming money from my account.

Wonder what it was all about?

I may have unwittingly stung myself.... got the stupid quiz call on my mobile. Incensed at this b***s*** I wnet online and found a number 1300 767 306. Voice prompts led me through cancellation service but then still mad that these d***heads had botherered me I decided to press 5 and wait for an operator.. about 2 minutes later and still listening to waiting music it twigged in my brain that I was doing ecxcatloy what they wanted me to do and probabaly this call was costing me $6.60 / minute
What a bunch or arseholes

i just got a call from that number and answered it, and it was the pre recorded msg asking the trivia question about john howard and kevin rudd. its the exact same competition that i have seen on television adds where they ask a really really stupid easy question like that and get u to sms the answer to win money, even the add looks really lame. my mobile is credit and not a plan so im hoping i dont get any charges to my account.i wish phone companies would be aware of this spam and block the number from their networks.-ChaZ

Just got a missed call from this number and had the "Congratulations..." message on it. I immediately hung up and googled it (here you all are). I also tried the number on my landline but it said "Goodbye" so I guess it knows if you are using a mobile or not. Tricky. Would love to know whether a) anyone has been charged anything by this number; and b) whether anyone's had any luck with blocking/reporting this number to Telstra or Optus?

Yeah, I got a missed call from this stupid number yesterday, and I was silly to call it back... and I got a pre-recorded message going "Congratulations, your number has been selected to be credited with....", I immediately thought it was one of those phone-number-stealing hoaxes, so I hung up. I thought I should check my account to see what my bill was, so that I could then monitor it over the next few days to see if they're charging things to my phone. I was only up to 0.96c yesterday. I made no other calls.Today, my bill has jumped to $5.96... so, some bastard has charged $5 to my phone in one day! So I called 3-customer-service, and they couldn't check where the charge came from until tomorrow, but say that there is nothing on there that says I spent $5 yesterday.So now I'm absolutely fuming and am gonna have to keep checking my account for increases in my bill, until I can somehow get the scam turned off my phone.Anyone had a similar outcome? And does anyone have an immediate solution? I would be forever indebted if you did!Cheers.
