So many paranoid people on here - Got an account with HSBC or just signed up? Then answer the call. Far out

It's not a marketing call. It is HSBC. They are calling to confirm that you have opened an everyday account or signed up for a credit card. They are basically calling to remind you to send back the Identity information form. I don't give personal details on the phone, so the guy who called (From Australia and spoke perfect English) mentioned that was the reason for the call and could I take action, that was all.

Caller: Maria I went to the HSBC website and called back on the number listed there. Very keen to contact me to confirm my personal details, which clearly they knew were right. Then the question that I suspect was the main reason for the call. She asked if I have ever been a politician. Perhaps with the Royal Commission, they are ensuring they don't stumble over a pollie. I know of two politicians with my name. Funny call.

Receive a call from this number regarding a HSBC transaction. whether this number is actually own by HSBC I am uncertain. But someone is using it scam as I checked with HSBC including their fraud department and they have no record of activity requiring them to check anything with me. Sounds like the origin of the fake call is India, HSBC customer service sounds like they are in the Philippines.

they called me at 5:19pm. The telephone marketing people at HSBC don't work so hard, do they? He asked me for my date of birth and email ID for "verification" purpose. I said why I should disclose if it was HSBC who called, not me calling HSBC. Dodgy!!

Call me and asked me if i received a letter from hsbc, asked what the problem, she wouldn't disclose unless i told her my date of birth, asked her to send me an email, she asked me to call their hot line without telling me the hot line number, felt that was strange and hang up

I got call from this number asking to confirm a credit card transaction I had made on indiegogo was legitimate. However I had already called HSBC to confirm this earlier in the week. The guy claimed he was just calling to "doublecheck" It was pretty strange.

I got this phone call today. she said she's on behalf of HSBC.(I just open an account few weeks ago,if it was a cheater, they sold the information so quickly.)She said she wants to confirm whether I am the right person she speaks to.After that, she read my name and the year of birth, and then ,let me provide the day and the month of birth to her. I was so confused why I need to provide to her. Finally, she said she will find someone who can speak my language and call me later.I think that's unusual phone call.

Missed calls returned are not answered . Would ignore it! As someone else noted if they left a message then perhaps I would consider returning the call.
