The number is a dialer used for legitimate charity fundraising.
This particular number is used by Fred Hollows, Guide Dogs for the Blind, the RSPCA, and Amnesty International among others.
I used to work for one of these organisations. If you are being hung up on that is most likely because there is a note in the system that you are either someone who abuses charities over the phone, or you continually block a call meant for your spouse, not you, pretending that person doesn't exist or is always "in the shower" etc.
THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO if you do not want to receive the calls, is to always take the call then say politely "I am not interested, can you please take me off the list". The agent will then be happy to hit F5+NEVERCALL and you will be removed from the system. This is totally at the fundraisers discretion, so be polite and don't be abusive.
Charities are exempt from the DNCR, are allowed to call private numbers, unlisted numbers, and any other kind of number. Your Government allows this and Telstra and big data companies provide your number, for a fee of course.

I am getting "test calls" almost every day now. My number is on the "Telemarketing" Don't Call Register. The law should be extended to ban these "check if home" calls too. I also raise here the abuse of "Private Numbers". As the receipient of a telephnone call, I hold that I am entitled to know who is calling me. I do not answer calls that signal "Private Caller". I check later to see if they leave a message. Government Agencies should signal "Official" not "Private". Officials usually leave messages with their calls anyway. Business and home users should identify themselves. Telephone subscribers should have an option to block "Private Calls".

Scum telemarketers from the RSPCA....I just called the RSPCA 8 times in one day and ask them for donations for my own charity ATA (Animal Torture Australia) and they soon get the sh1ts and remove your number from their list.

I had a call from them this morning saying they were something to do with heart research. I hung up on them. Fifteen minutes later I had a call from the same number but this time he said he was calling from "Insight". I hung up again. Five minutes later they called AGAIN so I just didn't answer. I wish they'd just bugger off.

I have an iPhone. I created a contact called 'Spam' and blocked it. Whenever I get an unwanted call, I just add the number to that contact and the number is automatically blocked after that. It only takes a second to add the number through the 'Recent Calls' function.

https://www.rspcaraffle.com.au - "Terms and conditions" Insight may receive up to 49% of gross proceeds. Pretty disgusting that you may think your donating and really half your money is going to the telemarketing company.

Have had several recent similar calls from this and related numbers. Two recent ones are: - (02) 8004 9983 - (02) 9003 4377 Every time I make a one off donation to some crisis appeal no matter who it is too, the whole merry-go-round starts up again. The charities themselves probably have too much at stake to risk having their privacy policies reviewed and/or made stricter, so I imagine that some of the charity staffers pinch the lists and sell them to commercial "Charitable" funds raising agencies. None of them ever seem to ring for more than thirty seconds. I'm slow at answering and always check my phone for who's calling before answering. If you don't recognise the number wait the thirty seconds. If the calls keep coming don't ring them back. Check the numbers here on reverse. The best remedy is simply to never take a call from a number you or your phone doesn't recognise in the first thirty seconds. Let it ring for a bit and pick up if it persists. It works for me. I almost never have to talk to them. I'll repeat, never ring them back. If they are legit they will call for more than thirty seconds, leave a message, text you or call you back.

Asked to be removed from what ever list I am apparently on. I am extremely discreet and remain confused about where they might have obtained my number and details.

Have received 23 of these calls in just 4 weeks. I am over it. If they are charities they are not doing themselves any favours. The government is wrong to not enable them to be put on the Do Not Call list

Well I've never been abusive, have often said I can not commit to anything as I already support a few charities with a limited income. Those being "Fred Hollows" "Wildlife Foundations" "Doctor's without Borders or MSF""Companion Dogs" and most recently "Kip Macgrath"

I find the best way of getting rid of these idiots is to ignore the call. I let them call over and over and ignore it over and over. They eventually stop. If you answer or call back, you are just falling into their game.

I think it's these people: www.insightccs.com.au. According to their website they find 'solutions' for charities.
I've emailed them and asked them to remove me from their call list - let's see how that goes.
I regularly work abroad and them calling me on my Aus mobile costs me money. Doesn't exactly put me in a generous frame of mind.
