I,ve been getting calls from the following numbers (02) 8988 5338, (02) 8988 5398 & (02) 8988 7183. I went onto another forum "WhoCallsMe? and the same numbers are quoted by various people. Apparently these guys are scammers and suggest they have authority from other banks and card companies which they don't. Do not buy anything or give them any of your personal details. They have been reported to the Banking Ombudsman and Privacy Commissioner. It has been suggested you report them as nuisance calls to Telstra or your phone provider. I actually picked up the call from 8988 7183 and spoke to a young girl who advised she was calling from the Westpac customer support services team. Luckily I was too busy to talk to her as this call would have seemed legitimate considering I closed my account 4 weeks earlier!

After receiving several calls where I answered and there was nobody there, I called the number (8988-5338) and spoke to an operator. I gave them my number and they were able to tell me who was calling. They were calling on behalf of GIO to offer new products. They were also able to take me off the list.

I just had this phone number (02) 8988 5338 ring me on my work mobile.  As soon as I answered there was a short delay and then they hung up.  Really rude and annoying.I don't recognise the number and I haven't bothered calling it back.I hope they don't continue to hassle me.

I keep getting this number (02) 8988 5338 call my home phone. Everytime I pick up there is nobody there. I say hello several times and then it just cuts out. I dial *69# to get the number and every time without fail it is this same number. I get this call everyday. I'm over them. I just called them and asked them to stop calling my number. I didn't want to buy anything, change anything or listen to any financial advice. They are the financila Advice Centre.

Same deal, they call every day, roughly around luchtime, no messaege left.
What I want to know is: how DID they get my details and WHAT is being done to stop them???????

I also got the call from the same number. They said that they are from Suncorp insurance. Is there anything urgent we should do about this????
