Have been getting calls non stop from this number for the last two weeks. Every day, about twice a day. It's very frustrating.
Is it true that you get charged for the call even if you don't answer?
I'm on the 'do not call register' you'd think that would count for something!

I also received phone from this number. He claimed that he is from Optus.

This is a scam. They claim to be from Optus and check out all your details. Even ask for your date of birth - do NOT give it to them. Sick of these people! Why is something not done about it, the number is known - why don't the police or Optus get them?

I normally ask them why they need me to confirm
Who I am if they are calling me and tell them to confirm who THEY are talking to and to confirm MY date of birth eventually they get nasty and I tell them "nicely" to f*ck off " love getting these phone calls mwah ha ha ha haaaaa

Well it's now 2013 and it seems they've started all over again... Been getting a call from this number everyday for over a week! Who do I report it to??

I have also applied for jobs through seek so it must be related to that...been getting calls every day and they don't leave a voicemail or anything. I tried calling it back and got a recording saying it was Optus which I don't believe. Seems it has been happening to people for years now so not sure why it hasn't been somehow shut down?!

Yep I was just called by this number, apparenty I was lucky enought to be selected to be awared 25% off my internet if i would just confirm who i was by telling them all my personal details. No thanks.

Just received a spam call from this number. Had been receiving this almost daily for weeks a few months ago, seems they're back at it again. Have added the number to my phone's blocking list.

Just received my second call from the number. When they asked for my birth date, I politely refused and they hung up immediately. I phoned Optus and it is not one of their numbers and the operator has passed it on to Optus's security. Hope they hang him up by his thumbs! Well done, ReverseAustralia!

Got a call from this number again today. My husband answered the phone and they hung up! One of the reasons i wish i stayed PRE-PAID :(

They keep calling and say nothing, only once did they talk and they were doing the same as they've done to everyone else trying to confirm my details. They would not tell me the point of the call only get angry when I kept asking. I was getting a call every week day for the past 2 weeks. On all smart phones there is an option to block certain numbers from calling in, I suggest that we all take that option with this scam!

I get two phone calls at least each day and they do not even wait for it to go to voicemail. I never answer them.

They've called me three times in the last 2 days. I answered on the third time without any info (Just "Hello?") and they said nothing. It was completely silent so I hung up. Would be good to know who to report this to.

I have had 3 missed calls in the last 2 days from this number. I called them back and got voicemail saying its Optus. Lucky i read this site! I don't know how to stop them calling though.

Yes, they claim to be from Optus and first question they ask is your birth date for security purposes. I wonder what would happen if you gave an incorrect date.
