I missed it and called back and it had an automated message saying I was being called from a call centre and they may call back. And when they do, they will get a spray of vitriol from me!
Rylie - UPDATE - DONT TRUST THESE CALLS
Thought I would update my post immediately above.I answered the next call I got from 028917000 which predicably was later that same day. The caller was a woman who said she was calling on behalf of the Red Cross regarding my direct debit donation to the Red Cross. Trying to be friendly, she said it was not that the Red Cross were after any further money but rather that there was a problem with my last payment, that the payment didn't go through and so she was calling to check the expiry date and the last four didgits of the credit card that I make that payment from.I reponded that as far as I was aware the payment had gone through, that I wouldn't be providing my card details to a third party, and that if the Red Cross has a problem with my payment then they could contact me or write to me directly. She sounded a bit huffy at this and said that she would send to details of the missed payment through to me, at which I said fine and expected her to ask for my email address. But she said nothing further and hung up.I contacted the Red Cross yesterday as I'm currently changing banks and need to give them new account details. Frankly I was so annoyed at being harassed by these calls that I was inclined to just cancel my monthly donation. But I decided to ask first that they check whether they had recieved my payment for November and they confirm that they had. So I explained about the calls and the Red Cross person assured me that if there was a problem that the Red Cross would contact me directly and that they don't contract with third party call centres for that. I said I was very concerned at how the caller knew that I made monthly donations to the RC from a credit card. The RC dude assured me that the RC doesn't share information of donors with other organisations. So have changed it so that the RC are direct debiting from my bank account now and will keep and eye on it. I'm inclined to cancel the credit card that that donation was coming off given following this experience. But without doubt, phone calls from 028917000 and (02) 8916 7900 are fraudulent. Do not give out any information to these callers. I'm unsure whether there is anyway to trace who is use these number to make these calls. If anyone does, pls post and I will check back.

Have received a few missed calls from this number in the last few days. Picked up today, they said they were from "NRMA" and asked for credit card details so they could renew my membership. B***S***.I am thinking of staying up and pranking them at all hours of the night. Heh heh.

total scammer, contacted on (08) 8917 0000 about four times in two days, while reading this they called again.
it was a lady claiming she was from the redcross without hesitation I told her I was not interested in giving the redcross any money, she then hung up without saying anything not even a thankyou
scam, beware.
