Hi. I've had this number call me several times during September 2010. When I answer, sometimes they hang up immediately, sometimes there is a 3 second silence then they hang up. I have asked my provider - Vodafone Australia to bar incoming calls and messages from this number. They said they "can't" and are not interested in LISTENING to any suggestions. My question to them, "Why not?" I didn't give my number to (02) 8917 0000, don't even know how they got my number and certainly don't want to be hassled by them.  I've also had several missed called messages on my 3 mobile broadband number from (02) 8667 1900. I started getting the calls just after I recharged my mobile broadband with 3. I rang 3 after the fifteenth missed call message and asked them to block the number. Again they said "We can't". My question "Why not?" no adequate reason given. Come on you slack providers. LISTEN to your clients. If you can block emails then you CAN block phone numbers too. Pull your finger out and lets get it happening.

If you receive a call from this number, do the following. If you miss their calls: keep a record of dates and how many times they ring. If you speak to someone ask who they are representing: write a letter to the company they represent with this text:

TIO/ACMA/Police Matter

To the Chief Executive Officer
(insert Name of Company)

Unless you cease and desist from having this marketing (company) (number they call from) call me on mobile or any other numbers (insert no.s) I will report (the company name)'s CEO (the legal representative) as the instigator of these harassing calls as they are made on (the company name)'s behalf. It contravenes the SPAM ACT 2003 - SECT 17 http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/cth/consol_act/sa200366/s17.html

1. The (company name) or your CEO may be contacted by police
2. I may take action to recover any damages suffered by me
3. I will cancel any goods or services you supply me with immediately

This is formal advice and constitutes your only advice.

Have received a few missed calls from this number in the last few days.  Picked up today, they said they were from "NRMA" and asked for credit card details so they could renew my membership. BU***HIT.

I am thinking of staying up and pranking them at all hours of the night. Heh heh.
