received a call from this number - although, the phone's display said it was from "(02) 4548 8800" asked about an accident in the last 18 months (by extreme misfortune, yes, yesterday) - however, I did not give any phone contact details (only street address) and no insurance claims have been made (yet). So, suspected this as a scam. Asked for the call back number (as I was called at work) and responded with "(02) 8880 0454" and the company "Claims Line". {sigh} don't these people have better things to do than harass people?

This is definitely a scam. Have no idea how they got my number & last name. They said they were calling about a 'claim' on a car accident I'd made. Told them I'd never had an accident and didn't give them any of my details whatsoever, was about to ask where they were calling from but just decided to hang up.

same situation today with a man called Maxwell. He provided details of my address and surname, but when I asked for more details of when this accident occurred, he could only say last year. After querying him and obviously seeing through his lies, he hung up on me. Is there a way of getting these crooks busted?

Someone from Australia Claims called my home number and asked to speak to me. I wasn't home so they asked me to call them on 02 888 00 454. These scammers can't even get the right amount of numbers for an Austrian phone service.

This is a SCAM! They get your details when you advertise your car for sale on the internet. I received the phone call from them knew it was a scam from the beginning, I called him every name under the sun that I could think of at the time and hung up.

I just received a call today who knew my last name.then he procceded to tell me that he was from a claims line about an accident ive been in. In the last 6 months funny since i havent driven for the last year.he asked me for my first name and d.o.b. which i gave false details.i asked him how he got my number and adress. He said from a claim i put in. He asked if ive been in an accident, i said 5. He said i think you are lying.i said you should know, you have the claim in front of you.then he asked me for my car registration.i said i didnt know it and if he gives me his number il call him back.he said its strange you dont know your own registration number? But he gave me this number and said he needs to check something with his supervisor and not to call him.he will call me back. Looked up the number and just confirmed my suspicions. Thanks to this website! If he rings again, maybe i can moan to him about the government or my bills, or how i had a cake in the oven and burnt it lol.

Just got a call from "Claim Line" about an accident I was in in the 12 months. He knew my address. Asked him for a number I could call back on and gave me a Sydney number. Googled the number and found this! No doubt he will call me back!

My partners been getting calls from this man saying that hes entitled to $15k in compensation for a car accident he had last year. Was able to give details of the cars involved and location and my poor gullible partner thought it might be legitimate. I started taking the calls myself and the man was not happy. Told me his name was Maxwell from the TAC and gave me this number. When i told him just to send a cheque in the mail he refused and kept asking to speak to my partner. When i said i would be handling this issue from now on he told me i was a stupid girl! I then said that i knew for sure this was a scam and if not i would call TAC myself and verify his identity. He called me a bitch and I told him not to call back we dont want his fake compensation and hung up. Then i found this site which confirmed my suspicions

I just had a two calls in quick succession from an arrogant Indian-accented male telling me that I was entitled to compensation for an accident. When I suggested that he must wear a glove for underpants because no-one could be that stupid only playing with one appendage but not in so many words, he demanded that I tell him my name. I hung up and he immediately rang back demanding my name. I asked him if he was a cop and he said "yes, I am a cop" to which I responded, "you are a liar". He wanted to know why I thought he was a liar and I told him that he was not a cop, and he was not calling from NSW as he had previously stated. He wanted to know how I knew that and I said I have caller ID. He then demanded my name again. I did not tell him my name but I asked for his and he said it was "Shawn Michael", then changed it to "Philip Shawn Michael". I told him he was an idiot and hung up on him for the second time. Then I Googled the number he gave, and this page came up.

I also had the same call but this one said he was from the Ministry of Justice and I could get $10,000 due to the accident not being my fault. Thought it was a scam so asked for details and said I could not give him any info. Googled and found this. Thanks!!!

I just had a call from 'Gavin' who was hard to understand. he said he was calling about car accident last year (coincidently I did have one) and mentioned compensation. I asked for his phone number and he gave (02) 8880 0454 and said he was from 'Claims on Line'. I asked him where he got our details from and he said an accident register. I asked where was register and he became vague so I ended the call. Shonky for sure

This guy has been harassing my mother to give her money she is not entitled to. I have advised her that this is a scam. She has partial dementia and is worried how he knows so much of her details, and if he is going to do something bad to her, as he has been a bit threatening. Needs to be stopped!!

Had a call from (02) 8880 0454 regarding a "so called" accident. He told me he was calling from the Roads and Maritime Services. He told me to call (02) 8499 9009 to check, but instead I called Roads and Maritime Services on their 13 number and was advised this is a scam.

I received the call from an Indian sounding woman regarding car accident I reported earlier to the police. She wanted to "verify" more details for the purpose of $10,000 compensation. I wonder where these scammers get this sort of information. How is it leaked from the police???
