This is one of the phone numbers used by Colmar Brunton Research, based in North Ryde (Sydney), NSW. They are genuine. If they are calling you, chances are you've registered with them (quite possibly years ago).
From my experience, all their research is paid, like online discussion groups, in-person interviews or group interviews etc.
They will probably keep calling until they reach you. Most people don't mind being offered $70.00 to go in a chatroom for an hour.
To clarify, the Do Not Call register excludes marketing/social researchers unless they are commercial in nature, and also if you have registered with Colmar Brunton in the past they are permitted to call.

Its market research. Qualify (answer yes to every question) and you will sit in a room testing different types of whatever for about $65.00

Will not leave me alone! Despite telling them in not interested, they keep ringing me. I don't sign up for any market research, so how they got my number I don't know.

Its a market research agency in North Ryde. They told me who they were when I answered once. They are using the contact list of another research agency which I was with. constantly calls week days and weekends. If you don't answer, don't you think they would get the hint you are not interested!!

I had 3 missed calls from them today. I called back 1 min after the last call. They said they can't search my number. They will call back when my number comes up again. How annoying!

Oh! Come to think of it I am signed up to Colmar Brunton, based in North Ryde (Sydney) which would explain the missed calls enquiring as to whether I would like to participate in paid research! Lol. IT'S NOT SPAM :-)

I received a call from the above number, they told me they were doing market research and I would be paid for my participation. Gave them all my personal details, including age, address birthdate etc etc, was told I qualify for a group the next night and that the details for the research group would be emailed to me. I never received any email and when I called back this morning (as the research thing is tonight) it went to voicemail and no one called me back. personally I think this is a scam and would be very surprised if this was legit. Am reporting this to the authorities as for all I know, I have now un-knowingly handed over my personal details to a complete stranger!

This company has been calling my mobile phone and hanging up on me, even if I answer after just ONE ring, for years now. I hate them!

Imagine calling people on father's day! I am registered with them and usually I am happy to take their calls but today I got a missed call from them and was not impressed that they called on a special occasion.
Chris
I also received a missed call from this number, also googled to get here, I just got a new number too... so I have no idea how they got me.
Reno
This is a market research company, you would have registered with them someway or another, I got a call from them today and asked me if I would be interested in attending a focus group for Queensland rail services between gold coast and Brisbane, it was for an hour duration and they offered $70 but I wasn't selected because I don't use that rail service

Colmar Brunton are now called Your Source. I have been registered with them for about 5 years to do paid market research. They are a pretty decent company and I honestly don't believe they would go around cold calling people!Somehow your number would've ended up on their list, possibly by a friend who thought you would be interested in paid market research. They call me a lot and I don't always answer as I don't want to do market research all the time, but I can safely say they wouldn't go around cold calling people.
Meg
The interesting thing is, I NEVER have missed calls from unknown numbers, but today I entered a competition in woman's day mag via SMS, and within HALF AN HOUR I had a missed call from this Colmar Brunton. Seems our details are easy pickings!!!!
Mikey
This number does indeed belong to Colmar Brunton Research. I wasn't sure what the number was so I searched it online. I am listed with them though for research/study purposes. They pay you decent money for answering questions, going for an interview or group interview, or testing things etc. They are based in NSW but operate in most other states too (I'm in SA).
The Do Not Call Register does NOT stop market and social researchers from contacting those on the register, because the work they do is important and a lot of the studies they do are actually on behalf of the government. If you don't want them to call you ever again, just answer the phone when they call and tell them you're not interested.
Most people are more than happy to get a call out of nowhere offering them $100.00 to do bugger all.
