I, too, am on the Do Not Call Register. This number phoned today at 2pm, but I was slow to pick up. Upon doing a *10# I got through to an answering machine identifying the number as being "The Kids Cancer Project". The voice sounded like a late 50s male who would rather have been somewhere else.

It's rung several times today

It's a fundraising charity, or so they say, the message I got when I rang back was "You've missed a phone call from a well-known charity, thankyou and goodbye" Didn't say what charity though...

(02) 8823 3067 called around 5:19 pm. I phoned back (with calling num IDsuppressed) and there is "no such number" according to the announcement.I phoned Telstra and reported the problem (you cannot get through to theunwanted calls peeps bc they close at 5 pm) so I had to work throughthe telephone tree quite a number of times until I reached a person. The person suggested that it might be a number from a computer onlineservice (Skype was mentioned). I suggest that1. ppl phone Telstra and ask that they (Telstra) provide an unwantedcalls service which goes at least to 8:30 or 9:00 pm ... in other wordsa service when most people will experience unwanted calls. (Most peoplejust get angry, but only a few follow up the next day (or on the followingMonday). Match the service to the need I'd say. (And that may wellinclude weekends.)2. ask that the Telstra telephone answering tree actually puts ppl through to an operator when requested. At present it isn't at all clever and it is silly to pretend that having a telephone-tree- voice dictate what one should do is at all a satisfactory substitutefor providing a proper service. (No matter how pleasantly the telephone voice might put its case - polite failure_by_design to provide service still isn't service.)
