Caller: Credit Corp

I got a call from a private number. I normally dont't answer private or numbers I don't know, but as I am expecting called from NSW Health (private number), I answered.

The lady didn't say who or where she was calling from. She knew my name and asked if I know the whereabouts of the person in question, as she couldn't reach them. Turns out she's been trying to call my dad for some matter. She didn't say what it was though.

Without questioning, I agreed for her to text me her details, so I could pass on to my dad and get him to call her asap. She texted me on what presume is her private mobile number.

I did a reverse lookup and the number (02) 8651 5212 came up as Credit Corp, a debt collection company and a search of her name Teleah, which I couldn't find anything. The number she gave me is probably her direct line, as Credit Corp's number is 1300 303 983 or 1800 221 414 (toll free).

I wonder if they are legit or a scam. Any real or even fake company wouldn't call someone without stating their name, company and reason for calling.

For her privacy, I'm mentioning her last name.

I called back number (02) 8651 5212 spoke to a woman who said I've reached a switchboard but did not say for what company.
