Caller: Cba I got the call from these guys asking about a financial health check. Only gave details about my name and got on google while on the call to find this page. Hung up and called CBA back to advise them of a fraudulent number but was advised that it was indeed them calling to enquire if I wanted further assistance with a home loan enquire. Told the CBA guy on the phone that it was a bit odd in the way they’ve called, to which he agreed, but assured that the call was legitimate.

Caller: (02) 8629 4008 Basically how it works is whenever you do banking or you are having a finacial settlement happening, especially with a third party, somewhere along the line your personal details are sold by nefarious people, who make money by selling your details to scammers in india.
Then an indian women will connect to a proxy phone line in Australia which this number (02) 8629 4008 to seen legit and calling from Australia. Their pathetic attempt at an Australian accent gives it away easily.
Do not give any details to them. The best way to completely waste their money on your details is by sowing doubt in their information accuracy. Tell these scammers that they must have the wrong person and that their information must be wrong, or they have the wrong number or that this isn't their "targets" number. Best way to completely disrupt their operations and throwing a spanner in their works.

Caller: CBA sh*t! I just had this number call me, asked me my name, dob & address which I gave her.. she said it was about a home loan which I have been saving for but haven’t enquired about it. Should I be concerned? Can they do anything with my personal details. I didn’t think anything of it until I hung up.

Caller: Commonwealth Bank I had this number call me claiming to be from CBA about home loans. I felt a bit uncomfortable with it so I called the CBA security department who confirmed it was definitely a legitimate CBA call. Hope this helps everyone, but always call the bank directly if you are unsure. In my case, it was all fine and legit.

I don’t know, when I called the number to check after I got scared by giving my details they says welcome to the commonwealth bank, thanks for calling us back. How do they know I am calling back and not just calling the bank for something. Seems wrong.

Brittaney, if you have been looking at the CBA website or perhaps logged into your CBA account they most likely have tracked you as being there and checking out home loans. That's how they have your information - your IP address is tracked and what you are looking at. Banks trade data all the time so they may also have purchased your data from another bank.

I answered but they hung up. I registered with CBA's 'Covid impact' service yesterday, so the posts on this page bout CBA Covid Support make sense

They rang and left no message. Tried calling number from a different phone, wouldn't even connect. Why are they even allowed to call when they are clearly dodgy ?
