Above number rang me but was silent on the other end when I picked up - I rang back and received the following message....................."Optus regrets that the number you have dialled has been disconnected" .......Strange, since I received the call from the same number an hour ago!!!!!!!!

Number called my home phone and I picked up. There was various loud, abrupt noises in the background (call center?) and I was greeted by a man, "I am from the 'Injury Insurance Helpline', how are you?" I knew that this was some sort of scam and answered "Good thanks, yourself?" He didn't reply to my question and asked immediately "Has you, or anyone in your family been in an car accident these past months or last year?" I replied "no", based on the fact that I knew this was a now a scam and that no one had been in a car accident. Responding with "Ok, thank you" he hanged up. I'm guessing that it's a scam based on the loud environment, unusual reasoning for calling and snappy questions, wanting answers. I feel bad for those who believe in this caller and continue to talk to him, which can lead to personal information being exchanged.

I just got one too - they were ringing about a "car accident" I was supposed to have had. I play around with them and then they hung up. And when I tried to ring back I got the same message.

It's the scam "has anyone in your household had an accident recently"?. The silence at the beginning of the call works in that they call numbers and when someone says hello, that classifies as sound so the call connects. If there's no sound, it disconnects. Here, we pick up the call and wait a bit before saying hello (sometimes we do slip up) and if we hear silence, we know it's a scam caller

This is a scam. when number came up it showed Australia under the number. This is an overseas caller diverting thru a local number. When you try to call number it says number not connected. Use your call block feature for these numbers.

Someone with an accent at a call centre ringing up about "the car accident", and I said "what car accident?" and they said "I don't know you tell me", before asking "no one had a car accident this year or last year?" When I asked for the company they were calling from, they hung up after a long moment of silence.

Indian insurance claim scam. They ask has anyone had an accident in the past 3 yrs.. Blah blah blah. Don't answer and if u do, feed em bs to keep them on the line. U never know, u might save some poor elderly person from falling for it. I really wish these pond scum bottom feeders would get a REAL job.. Scamming old ppl & those that know no better is disgusting.

Indian car accident scam number. They claim to be from 'accident compensation service' and claim that someone from this number has had an accident in the last 3 yrs. They are phishing for personal info. Don't answer.. If you do, feed em the same amount of b.s they feed us. Really wish this pond scum could be blocked in some way. Their numbers always begin with 02 8623.. Last 4 digits vary. Be aware.. They never quit. (I get on avg 6-10 calls a month on my unlisted, unused home phone. No one has the number, it's literally them every time it rings!!)

I had a missed call from this number but am reluctant to call it back as I've been getting lots of sales calls lately. Anyone else know it?
