I just called the number back after missing numerous calls from this company. It is the Heart Research NSW.

Constantly getting automated phone calls from this number. my mobile and landline are on the do not call register. So why am I getting these call?

They don't know the word STOP and ring your telephone company and complain about it and if that doesn't work call the ACMA and call or email A Current Affair and tell me about the problem

Yep, same for me. They called, I answered, they hung up.

I answer and number disconnects me. Suspect it may be fundraising telemarketing as I have previously donated to some very well known organisations and as a result receive calls regularly.

The comment from Angry is correct is just completed this process. Call 1300 886 067 and have your number removed from the list.

I keep getting called by (02) 8524 5956. I have so far missed each call, but when I ring it back it says the number is not in service.

Correction!The correct number for the Rural Fire Service Association - fund raising raffles - is (02) 4722 2122Appologies to the Rural Fire Service.

These guys phoned today claiming to be selling tickets for a raffle fund raising for the NSW volunteer fire fighting service.
Smelling a rat, I told them that I wasnt going to pay money over the phone to someone cold calling me like this, but that i'd be happy to consider buying tickets if they could simply email or send me more info in the post.
They did'nt take my contact details and couldnt get off the phone fast enough.

Can Telstra do something about this?
I assume that the cops wouldnt be able to to help.

This number calls every day and always hangs up when you answer.  Fake and illegal.  If the person from this number reads this you are an arsehole.  How can this number ring me and when I immediately call it back the recorded message is "your call could not be connected. Many times I get this number calling my HOME phone number... Call back identifies it as "Fund raising organisatiopn.. no name (cowards), no message other than the fact that they called.This is illegal and very annoying to have complete strangers continually disturding the peace of a sick person living here.. someone who canot an swer the pone and is very diesturb ed b y it. WHO ARE YOU>

These people are the Rural Fire Service Association.
They run fund raising lotteries.

Try ringing 1300 886 067 and asking to have your name taken off their list.
