The Phone number is the NSW Rural Fire Association after donations.

This one I believe is a legitimite australian organisation, however the telemarketers are trying to build up their call rates and just hang up with connection to raise their call numbers up. Thankfully it's not a dodgy scam from overseas, but it is annoying nonetheless.

RFS is using Contact Centres Australia (http://www.contactcentres.com.au/) to do their telemarketing for them. I've just sent them a request via their contact page, to stop pestering my number with their unwanted calls.

I'm of the opinion that ANY number starting with 028 is going to be shafted! I only get to sit in my office during the day for a while. Amazing how many telescum try to waste my time. As my phone is registered as a business, I'm not allowed to be on the do not call register. I want the present Communications Minister's private phone number so I can ring him at 3 am trying to sell him TV antennas. I'd do it 20 times a night with the request that MY number is put on this DNC list too. I doubt that mental midget Malcolm would do anything other than have me arrested for making nuisance calls. IDIOTS. My line is for my customers to get through to me. NOT scum that ties up my line and prevents my customers the right to call me. One telescum on my line at the wrong time means busy tone to a potential customer, they phone the next number in the book and I lose a deal.

Called today @ 1:46pm me "hello" ........(Long Pause) Them "oh um hello" .......... I chose not to speak, they called me after all, then CLICK, they hung up. AssHats!!

Extremely annoying and when I have answered the calls in the past I always feel compelled to donate as I live in a high fire area. I do appreciate the fire service but calling and then hanging up when I have a newborn is getting beyond the joke. I recognise the number now, so I will not be answering. Oh and my home number is listed as private, so I am a bit annoyed at to how they got my number

Call and then hang up-extremely irritating. If they are trying to get donations for the rural fire service like everyone says, then this is not a very intelligent way to go about it.

Very frustrating that when I answer they hang up straight away. Have donated in the past but probably will withdraw support given the annoyance with these calls when we have new baby in the house.

For those saying you are on the Do Not Call Register, charities and government organisations are generally exempt from this.

Personally next time my wife or I actually get someone on the other end we'll try and get them to remove us from their internal list.

The calls are from paid fundraisers working for the NSW Rural Fire Service Association. They sell raffle tickets for real raffles. There is no scam and the RFSA does a great job supporting volunteer firefighters. I'm a member of the the RFS and the RFSA but I still find the phone calls extremely annoying and now that I recognise the number, I don't answer the calls.

It's an auto call service on behalf of the RFS.

i got the same call but i had the phone on the Charger so i missed it :-), lucky me , just aswell i googled the number an found this site

Yep same here, I usually pick up and as soon as they introduce themselves I quickly hang up without a word... Very effective.
And yes they claim to be from some rural fire dept. I don't believe it one bit.

I keep getting calls from this # and several different #'s & when no answered on the 1st few rings it disconnects. I would have to say I get about 5 a day. The ones we have answered are RFS' RSPCA, Cancer foundation & the list goes on. When my children answer the call they want to know when the best time to get hold of me is???. We currently donate to all good causes in other ways however once you have made a donation on of these calls to these companies that will note let up trying to get you to make a continued donation on a monthly basis. Never asking if this is a financial burden to you. I'm listed on the DO NOT CALL REGISTER however the calls keep coming. I'm at a loss of what to do. as I cannot ignore every call I get
