Whenever I get a call from a number I don't recognise I leave it to go to msg....when they don't leave a msg I know it's a telemarketer...but seeing as my home number has been unlisted for 12 years, I tend to Google the number to see which charity it is (I say this because it has been a charity every single time)...& then I boycott said charity. I donate to a number of worthwhile causes and each organisation knows not to call me- I donate on my own terms and to a charity I research thoroughly as far as how many cents in the dollar go to the actual cause not administrative costs... any charity cold - calling me has lost a potential donation. I understand that in the NFP sector times are tough, you've really got to fight for each dollar...but cold calling is just shooting yourselves in the foot! So many people simply see it as harrassment & an intrusion into their home just like door - to - door. Please re-think your marketing strategies- there has to be a better way to garner support than outsourcing to a call centre and getting a dispassionate CCR who has nothing to do with the charity they're spruiking, trying to use emotive language to guilt people to donate, using hifh pressure sales tactics they've beem taught in a one-day workshop.

We have been continually harrassed by the RFS Association for years now. They are relentless - just last week they called four times in one day between 9.am and 7pm and three times the next day. (We now recognise the number which comes up on our mobile tablet and don't answer.) We used to answer the phone when we got these calls and have told them on numerous occasions to take our name off the register to no avail. We used to occasionally donate to the RFS stall at the shopping centre but not anymore. Whether it is the actual RFS or a charity associated with them, they have now completely antagonised us and put us right off ever donating to them ever again...way to go!! .

Another lot of annoying people who give me the sh*ts to say the least. I have personally told them not to call so let's see if they abide by that. None of these organisations have any right to continually hassle people at all times of the day and night might I add. If they ring again they'll be sorry they did!!!!

That's a great idea, storing the number as Do Not Answer, I have now done this, but I have also changed the ring tone to a tune that fits the words "Do not answer". Now the kids and I will know not to answer the phone. I am going to use this for all the calls I get that just seem to hang up as I answer. I get calls from this number about twice a day and I haven't yet spoken to anyone. Should be fixed now :)

This is a fund raising organisation Rural Fire Service ASSOCIATION - not the RFS. The RFS it self DOES NOT ask for donations as their website states. The association users these donation in order to assist brigades in buying extra items that will assist their VOLUNTEERS (who give up their valuable time - unpaid) to protect the community - cant begrudge that can we?

Settle down everyone. Yes it is annoying, very annoying infact, however, this is a legitimate fundraising service for the RFS. Unfortunately once you have donated once you end up on their call list. I have purchased tickets on a few occasions, unfortunately I have been unable to do so for a few years yet they still call me.
Orange Man has listed a number to be removed from the call list, maybe we should all try that before bagging them out any further.

So f*cking annoying. Hung up on me as soon as I politely said no thank you.
Obviously some a**hole is unhappy with their job and is desperate to get anyone to say yes.

I can not handle this anymore. They phone me up to 5 times a day and I don't even answer the calls anymore. My number is on the DNC list and when I complained to them I got fobbed of with an email. Ridiculous. Surely this can not be legal??!!

RFS! Yeah right, they must not read their own website where it states on there that they NEVER ask for donations via the phone! So I would mark this call as a scam as they donations stop fully with them!

Don't get sucked into this. This is NOT the actual RFS, but a call centre calling on behalf of a body called Rural Fire Service Association. They cannot tell you how many cents in the dollar actually go to the Rural Fire Service itself. We donated for many years thinking we were supporting the local firies!

I have received calls from this phone number for nearly three years. The persons speaking on the phone are a male and a female (not at the same time). They have Indian accents and poor English skills. Sometimes they claim to be from the Rural Fire Service NSW or some other Fire Fighting organisation and they ask for donations. Other times they claim to be searching for someone specific and ask to speak to so-and-so. I told them this person is dead. Then they claim to be from The Royal Society for the Blind Australia and say that the person they are looking for (deceased) owes them money and they seek information to determine if you are family of said person. This is so they can demand monetary recourse through you (the phone answerer). By the way,I don't know my former phone-line owner. Other times they say they're from the Royal Society for the Blind and ask straight- out for donations. I've done some research and I know this is an absolute SCAM. These SCAMMERS are not associated with any actual charity or genuine Australian company. I have told them to F### O## numerous times but they persist in their harassment. DON'T GIVE THESE SCAMMING CON-ARTISTS A SINGLE CENT!!!

This call is from Contact Centres Australia calling on behalf of NSW RFSA (Rural Fire Services Australia) trying to raise funds by selling raffle tickets.
To be removed from the contact list, call the RFSA on 1300 886 067.

Charity Collectors on behalf of the RFS... Sick of them ringing! Surely this is a form of harrassment! I've asked to be removed from their list several times!

I tried that option and just got a flat denial that it was not them but an associated group. They did give a phone number but I saw little point in ringing them as I doubt it would make a difference. But you would think that if they get enough complaints they would tell this other mob to knock it off. It blackens their reputation
