This number called me today. He said he was calling for donations on behalf of the volunteer fire brigade

The 5900 number calls me on my mobile. I guess they must have plenty of money to be able to call mobile numbers. I didn't answer the call and they didn't leave a message on message bank.

Also calling from 5990 ring back and its a disconnected number. I am on the do not call database but it doesnt cover charities.

Made a mistake of donating once and now hounded 2-3 times a day. Very disappointing to learn how my money is being spent - pesty phone calls. Lesson learnt

Got a call from a similar number at 5.55pm - (02) 8524 5907 and got fundraising msg when I called back to see who it was.
No message was left on my phone.
Have also recently received calls from (02) 8524 5994 and they said they were calling about fundraising but would give no further details.

I have just recieved the same call, I answer and they hang up. Do we know whether is is an Australian number or not? If so what area?

Same as above! Calls come at any time and if I ignore no message is left,I am on the do not call list also but I find it very frustrating that even these calls including charities are still aloud to invade our privacy!Thanks for the tip Caroline I'm going to try to add these numbers on my phone as you have!!!

Just got a call from (02) 8524 5901 and let it ring out as I didn't recognise the numb er. I googled it and found this website, great idea whoever set it up. I purposely cancelled voicemail as I am so over getting calls from charities and phone companies and I have been on the Do Not Call Register for years also,

check you phone bills, a reverse call charge credit scheme, ranges from 11cents to 23cents per call.
you phone bills say you called them.

They accumulate call credits by time, imagine this, they call thousands of numbers per day, every answered call registered by reverse charge gives them a call credit of approx between 30 seconds to 1 minute. they accumulate thousands of hours of call credits and guess what, they go on sale, as phone cards, the ones you see in indian,chinese and lebo shops.
