These guys have called me 4 times today regarding saving money on my energy bill. First 2 calls in the morning i asked them to remove my number from the list. Not Interested. Have received 2 more calls since then and told them again to remove my number from the target list. NOT Happy! Sounds like a scam to me.

Caller: Supposedly "Creative Deals" Cold call to a mobile. She knew my name and wanted to do an electricity comparison - claimed to be from a comparison company. I've never heard of them. Googling them failed. Lady gave me a website to visit: http://www.creativedeals.com.au - it's a real website, but super basic and empty. Also has zero mention of their ABN or other pertinent details for a company operating in Australia. Best I could find is a mention in their simplistic privacy policy about being based in India.
She kept asking for my National Meter Identifier (NMI) - a number on your electricity bill. No one has EVER asked me for that before and I refused. I asked her for the sorts of info such cold callers normally seek - what her best deal charged for service and per kWh, but she just kept insisting she needed the NMI. The way she spoke it sounded like, if I just gave her enough info, she was going to mess with my electricity set-up without my permission.
I tried to determine if she was legit or not (what a waste of 10 minutes of my life). My conclusion: inconclusive.
They might be legit and just REALLY bad at their professed job, or they might be a well-organised scam. Not worth the risk to test. Go to electricity suppliers yourself or use one of the well-known comparison sites. On top of everything, cold callers are annoying as heck, and when they know your name they are also disturbing and creepy. What else do they know?
Best not to answer, unless you enjoy playing with cold callers.
