Why can't we make these sorts of phone calls illegal. They called me. Referred to me by my full name so I assumed maybe it's slightly genuine. When I said yes, that's me, they hung up! I think that call was made to establish my number and my name. Looks like now I'm going to get a million more calls. I don't want to be racist as I'm a migrant myself so when I heard the Indian accent, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Sadly, my stereo typing thoughts were accurate. It was some sort of telemarketing.

Caller: Contact Network Sevices Allegedly gauging my interest in insurance, were going to "let me consider" things and call back in 3 days. The only words I spoke were "please repeat the name of your company" and, after being informed of the return call, I demanded this not occur and that I be removed from their database. Was told that I wouldn't hear from them again - we'll see! I didn't confirm my name but they had it. Never received spam/scam calls using my name before until one from a 3rd-party marketer (08) 6228 4112) who is contracted by Telstra, and they have access to your Telstra account information. Thanks heaps, Telstra, these dodgy operators are not only annoying us by attempting to have us sign up for additional Telstra services, but it seems clear that they're on-selling our private contact details to far worse scammers!!!

Just thought I would make it a round 260 complaints ... have we SO lost control of our own telephone system in Oz that we have to put up with a barrage of these calls from foreign countries?

Caller: I don't know (insurance sales) Indian accent. I asked who was calling, their answer was not clear. I asked if they were trying to sell me something, the answer was "no". They then proceeded to ask me if I had personal insurance, I said "no". I asked to be removed from their call list and the answer was "Before I take you off our list, I need to tell you something..."
I hung up.
