Have now had 3 calls in the one day - each time a threatening computer generated voice makes accusations of tax fraud and requests contact via telephone. Scamming scum.

Recorded message threatening to have me arrested for tax evasion. Asked to return call to a hotline (should be a 13 number if genuine) Definitely a scam, but could be intimidating for the elderly

I have had numerous calls from this number.... When is the Australian Government going to step up and start sorting this out....
Registering your number is a waste of time....I'm still getting non stop calls from charities and scammers...Even from the federal police asking me to donate money..
Its becoming a joke.

Okay in the last week I have had problems with my Telstra bigpond account. Now this week I have calls to say I owe money to the ATO. Also three years ago when I connected to a Telstra broadband account the same sort of thing. That time it was a virus was found on my computer and it was 'infecting' the telstra system. So who in Telstra is supplying the phone numbers, or is it just strange. Are you also having this strange coincidence??? If so I feel this is a huge problem for Telstra.

So I couldn't help myself and called the number, cause you know, I like to have fun with scammers. An Indian sounding gentlemen answered the phone with the greeting 'Tax Office' I explained that I received his recorded message and wished to fix my tax account. The very first thing he did was ask for my phone number and when I refused to give it he told me to f@*k off and hung up. I called again and when he heard my voice he just hung up and the third time I called he just didn't answer the phone so hopefully I may have disrupted him for a little while. ha ha ha.

(02) 8417 3037 ,,,,,,,, Why can't Telstra or somebody identify these d*cks are charge them with Attempted Fraud, or impersonating the Tax department. I would like to meet them face to face and let off some steam, like smashing something - - - -

Recorded message, Very threatening and distressing, even though I knew it was scam. They claimed that they were able to bypass the "Do not call register" (which I am on) because this was an ATO issue.
I reported it to ACCC - perhaps if more people reported it something might be done: scamwatch.gov.au

Have received a message on my answerphone as well as an answered call, where an automated voice states that tax fraud has been committed and there is a warrant out for my arrest and I need to contact their hotline. If it is real and that urgent, then I am sure a real live person would be contacting me. I wish they would stop wasting my time!

A voice generated message left on my answering machine stating we are in tax evasion, may be arrested and to ring this number back, also said we are not responding to mail sent to us concerning the so called tax evasion. Definitely a scam.

When answered, recorded voice stated that this was an "automatically generated call". If these people are going to ring at inconvenient times with time wasting calls they could at least have a human at the other end.
