Caller has left 2 messages saying he is from the ATO and threatening all sorts of legal action against me for tax evasion. I rang the number back and a man answered with an Indian accent saying he was from the ATO and his name was David Jones. I hung up on him as it is obviously a scam.

I called back number (02) 8417 3026 rang 3 times then goes to busy tone.

I am tired of receiving these calls - 5 again this week!

Just received 2 messages from the same crowd threatening jail due to my tax evasion. Recorded message saying I hadn't returned documents they had sent to my registered address. Scam scam scam.

I've had the same message - but as always I just delete them.

As per the other comments, I received a recorded scam message advising me to call back unless I wanted to go to jail etc.

i love getting this type of call, just like having fun with them and leading them on a totally different path, they get very upset with you at the end, but now it's recorded massages so i just hang up bummer!

I received the same thing today as well, lucky I know better as a bas agent ... scam advising that I was being investigated for tax fraud
I did call the number - they had my name address and home and mobile number ....
I had David Cooper as the operator ....
I also reported this to the ato

In the past week I've had four calls from this number, all recorded messages, saying that even though I am on the Do Not Call list, that I am guilty of tax evasion and threatening legal action and possible gaol. Because I was out when the first message came through, I could write all the details for later reports. It comes up as Private Number on the phone screen, enough to be wary anyhow. I phoned the ATO to report the details and also put the info on ScamWatch. The voice was that of an Australian woman. Helpful ATO lady told me not to phone back to give them a piece of my mind!

We had 2 automated messages from this number saying we owe money and may face a prison term. When I rang the number (3 times) all i got was an engaged signal.

I received two calls like this as well - an automated message with a very classy standard English accent threatening prosecution and asking me to call (02) 8417 3026. I am completely up to date with my tax returns, and have checked my records with the tax office - so the message was definately a hoax.

It was not even a real voice it was computer generated, it was threatening and scary and raise the heart rate a lot. shame we cannot do anything in return.. unless anybody has any ideas how to stop them.

Call from ATO, regarding legal action about tax evasion, this is sixth call from morons.

Received 4 automated voice phone calls today, all saying the same thing "your account will be deliquefied" because it has apparently been noted that I'm avoiding paying Tax all these years and I'll be sent to prison

Call was automated to ring number back. Also threatened legal action & prison & freezing accounts. Said his name was Paul Adams. SCAM.

I just received the same recorded message with No Caller ID but it was a female voice. I google searched ATO phone Tax scams and found this is not a new scam. I didnt bother ringing the (02) 8417 3026 number given in the recording as I have no debt with the ATO and I am positive I don't have an arrest warrant issued against me for Tax Evasion.
