I received a call from this number claiming to be Microsoft and asking for details to enable a correction to be made to my home computer. They claimed my computer was infected by a virus. Any comments?

I received a call from this number also, I did try to gather up as much information as possible. First and most obvious is this telephone number. Secondly, he gave me his support email whihc was supposed to be msw0075_au @ hotmail.com.au, name Rob Martin and said that I ad a virus.

Had a call from 'Microsoft' by Andy Peter. Told me my computer had virus's and other problems. He gave me a phone number (02) 8417 2679 and ABN 29002589460. When you look up the ABN it appears almost legitimate!! I did not give any information and told him I would ring back (which I won't). This appears more legitimate and sophisticated than normal and is of some concern.

I had these scammers call me today and i installed the programs they wanted me to install, which gave them remote access to my PC. I gave them my name and email address, but did not give them my credit card details. They hung up after this. I feel so stupid and hope they didn't hack into my computer and steal any info

Similar conversation. He mentioned his name is Albert Martin and that the virus on my computer is so bad that my computer would crash by tonight. I took details and told I will call back. In an hours time ssoneone else saying he is the team leader called me. They had all my details including address. When I told that I am an IT pro they just hung up.

The scammers called me twice today, I Googled microsoft australia's details and called their 13 number, while waiting their advertorial said that Microsoft do not cold call customers for any matter.Interesting that the first scammer actually asked me if I had Windows installed, then told me I had a virus - not real bright!!

Just received a call from these impersonators. Sounded suspicious from the very start and when asked if I was sitting in front of my computer, simply said it was with someone else. They provided me with their contact details and I instantly went to search online its basis. Glad to find this post confirming my suspicion.

Had the same phone call today, got me to call the number, went through a couple of diverts to get to a "Micro Soft Service Center". sent me invoice to prove his credibility. caller got pissed off when I wouldn't give my credit card number, maybe because I had him on the phone for an hour.

I just had a similar call and they quoted the same number. When I said I was not prepared to give my credit card details they emailed me an invoice - from email address msw_au@hotmailcom - so they're not that smart!

This is a scam. They convinced my elderly mother to hand over personal details and credit card numbers.

I got a call from these guys as well. How do register a complaint? This should be illegal. They are taking advantage of people that do not have the technical knowhow. They should be shut down!

People impersonating 'Microsoft Australia' and inform that you have a issue with your software. They will help you remove so install Teamviewer for them to access your computer. They ask your credit card details to install a virus patch.
