A virus has locked our internet and said that all of our security is under trouble and to contract Telstra on the above number. I rang it for interest and they don't answer it as Telstra but they said they would have to shadow my computer but I refused.

I have removed this from both windows 7 and windows 10....It is just annoying page!! that tries to suck you in to call the number!! Use alt- control- delete and end task...go to search programs and files in bottom corner and search for i.e google and re-enter as homepage.

Does anyone have any news on this Garbage that keeps appearing. I too am getting the following message on the blue screen.
" HOAX CRASH TEXT ***STOP: 0X0000007E (0xfffffffffc000000047 , 0xffffff8000002eb5b48) SERIOUS SECURITY THREATS MIGHT HAVE BEEN DETECTED ON . YOUR PERSONAL PHOTOS, CREDIT CARD INFORMATION AND PASSWORDS MIGHT HAVE BEEN COMPROMISED. IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED YOU DO NOT CONTINUE USING YOUR COMPUTER UNTIL YOU'VE CONTACTED AN OFFICIAL TECHNICIAN. YOUR IP(___.___.___.___) MIGHT BE TARGETED RIGHT NOW. PLEASE CALL THIS NUMBER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. TOLL FREE (02) 8417 2385 AN OFFICIAL TECHNICIAN WILL HELP YOU TO REMOVE ANY ADWARE / SPYWARE ON YOUR COMPUTER".
Clearly this number is a Sydney number, but it does not belong to Optus as the additional popup suggest. Notably I have also spoken with and they know nothing about this and suggest a best virus software. Helpful hey...
I would pay through the teeth for someone to develop a program that can track back to the source of the adware/spyware or virus and destroy their entire pc.. somehow set the bloody thing alight. don't care if it burns their house down.. these people are lower than sh*t...

I took a quick look at this page (I'm an IT Expert). Some things: a/ It's a clever page that just makes if difficult to dismiss the popup window (It appear to loop 99 times on this front). b/ The information regarding Telstra/optus/etc. it a mapping of the computers internet facing address and your ISP. It isn't legit in any way. c/ I don't think you've been infected...it appears to be an annoying page, not a dangerous page...so killing your browser (Windows -> right click the bottom bar, select Task Manager, then in the processes tab select you browser with a right click, and kill the process. This gets rid of the offending window. IE=iexplorer.exe, Chrome = chrome.exe etc. d/ The number forwards to a USA type number (as far as I can tell). In the page code there is a reference to...if no number then call "888-xxx-xxxx" type number appears...looks US to me...and ties in with those who thought the person was USA when calling. AND
e/ Complain to the Australian Communications Authority. If the local number forwarded to the USA, then a complaint to the ACA would be useful, as the person has used an Australian Phone number to perpetrate Fraud. This is the hook that might allow this particular scammer to get caught...since someone OWNs that number here in Australia!
BTW: Never ever grant someone you don't know access to your computer. My never-fail rule. If someone on the internet asks you to do something... DO THE OPPOSITE. It hasn't failed my mum yet!

Hi, this number is a call to American then bounces to india, told me to go f*ck myself and die, when I said I was reporting them to Federal Police.
Report it to Scamwatch they will deal with it, or continue to prank it if you get free unlimited phone calls.

Same problem. Rang the number. A man named Sam answered with Indian accent. Said he is from Microsoft Technical support. Asked me to run msconfig and when this hasn't helped, wanted to take over of my computer remotely. Offered to fix the problem. but it would cost me around $360 a year for the protection programs he was going to install on my computer. Wonder how many people have fallen for this scam.
