As soon as I said "why do you want my email address" they just hung up.
When I said I was from Melbourne he said oh nice so is that in Sydney? Lol. Am curious to know what the scam is or do they just get into ur computer and find passwords etc?

I was doing some charity work when this pop-up appeared stating they were from the IT company that service my computer. As soon as I rang their number, I could tell they were not my IT company (I know them by first name basis, and they do not have a strange accent).
Definitely a Scam!

Same thing. Elderly people get caught out by this scam and allow the scammers to remote into their computer and guess what? There bank account balance goes south very quickly. My advice is to report it via Scamwatch.

Same thing happened to me:
I should ring this number purporting to be a TPG Support line, concerning a security problem with my data. i.e Passwords, financial info, photos etc. Number is (02) 8417 2379.
Scam!

I got the same message, and called the number and man with same accent answered. I did not allow access to my computer. But how do you get rid of the message?
