screened this call as i didnt recognise the number, went through to message bank with a blank no sound at all message received.

Just had a call from this number advising they were from Google, and were "in the area" to conduct "Google Maps Indoor". I assume this was a way to get me to pay money over the phone as a small business owner so that they could come into my business, despite not having a business. On the phone, I advised I used to work for a Marketing company and knew exactly how Google operated, and that his attempt was terrible. Obvious scam.

Same thing....got an automated message saying there was a problem with my tax and they will send a warrant out for arrest. Called ATO and they said it was a scam, ATO do not call from landlines only 1300 numbers.

Definitely a scammer!! They will also call from (02) 6216 1111 pretending to be the ATO and threatening to sue you or have you arrested unless you pay them $eriou$ ca$h!! :-/

Try to get as much information about them as possible, starting with a callback number, then mailing address, website, email, instructions on how to contact them. See what they want specifically and then politely tell them to take a painful $**t and have a nice day. :-)

Same here , it's a scam , heavily accented man told me my 2011 tax return had been audited and there was a discrepancy, that I required legal representation - when I questioned specifics he hung up. My Accountant verified the scam , has been going on for months .

Missed call, an automated voice message left saying it was the ATO and failure to ignore the message and not return the call could get me into legal trouble. What amateurs. Anyway, safe to say I knew straight away it was a scam the dodgy scum. I am sure they will ring back. Just trying to come up with a good story to scare them, although nothing seems to phase them.
I just hope they don't scam others into giving details of any sort or handing over money, can't stand these types of lowlife.

I got a phone call to telling me that they are ATO. When they spoke to me nothing matched up so I rang my accountant and the check my tax and I was all clear

I had the same calls! Threatening to freeze my assets and lodge to court. Asking for my solicitors details. His Name was Kevin Peterson. He was very convincing, asked for payment via pre paid visa from post office!

Computer generated message stating Australian taxation office need urgent action and I must call within a minter of receive the message.
Niki Johnson was the name left.

I have had 6 calls over a week from this number both speaking to my mum and leaving messages, with the same message re tax problem and possible arrest warrant. We have no issue so assume its fraud. Will be calling telstra to get a block on the number.

have received 4 x messages of the same. when we called back, their response was quite aggressive and when questioned further to validate, they promptly hung up!

I've had 4 of these dodgy calls today. All of them were automated calls to a home phone stating that there was an issue with the ATO and tax and if it weren't remedied immediately there would also be a possible warrant for my arrest. So Scam alert for sure. Calls were made within an hour or so of each other, the message is pretty aggressive, with distinct accents. Block this number if you can.

my parents received a call on their landline from this number stating it was the ATO and there was something wrong with some paperwork. They dont submit tax returns. When i called the number back a male answering Australian Taxation Office, Elwyn speaking. There was the sound of a number of telephones ringing in the background. When i questioned him, he hung up

I had a similar call today from a person called himself as Mark Robinson

Have had a call from this number over the last 3 days at exactly the same time each day, they left a message on the answering machine. Discrepancy with our tax and if we didn't call back there would be a forceful recovery. I rang back using a blocked number but they would not speak just hung up.
