This guy with a south African accent called me about some 'accident' in the town where I lived. I had not been involved in any accident and smelled a scam.

I get a call from this number every week day. I've rung back and followed the procedure to put me on the do not call list, but it didn't work and they continue to call me. I don't answer. I am also on the do not call register so have no idea how they got my number!!

Just got a call from this no. He knew my 1st name, said he was from Roadcare, which I'd never heard of & asked if I'd been involved in an accident in the last 12 mths. I said "no", he said "thats funny" then hung up! I knew I should've ignored the call!

I believe these people are using transport department records of recently de-registered vehicles. The call came to my son who had recently handed in his number plates, and these people said "You've had a road incident in the past 12 months". Only thing was, the 'incident' was off-road and the vehicle had been sitting in our yard longer than 12 months while my son tried to fix it up and then gave up. But the coincidence of handing in the plates, and getting the phone call a few days later, was what triggered my suspicions.

This number has been ringing me everyday this week and leaving no message, I answered today and they knew my name. Scam! Why doesn't AFP trace these numbers and stop these fraudsters?

I told them that I turned on my tracking software and the call was being monitored by the FBI

Didn't catch the woman's name but said that she was calling about an accident I had been in within the last 12 months and could she confirm some details. I questioned why she was calling and when I said I hadn't been in an accident in the last 12 months she hung up on me. I called the number and added myself to the 'do not call' list. If that even exists!

Clearly a scam. They call me pretty much everyday and have started to call our home phone too. I have told them off but it was just a different person the next time asking the same questions
Tip for knowing if you are receiving a call from a scam or some other kind of telemarketing. When you answer, there is almost always a long pause before then start talking. This is the connection being processed and means they are likely in some sort of call centre set up with several different phones. Hang up immediately if you experience this pause.

The caller knew my name and said he was calling about third party insurance in regards to a "minor car accident I had in the last 12 months, is that correct?" I said no I haven't been in an accident and there was a pause and then he hung up.

Just got a call from this number and he started to say he was calling about an accident I had been in with my vehicle. I immediately told him he was a scam artist and a piece of sh*t and said don't ever call me again. Then he started calling me a piece of sh*t and I then hung up on him.

A guy said from road care, said I had a car accident, and asks for a quote. For some strange reasons, he knows my family name. Clearly a scam.

Received a call from this number 1250 hours on 28/09/17. Again, male stating that I had been involved in a road accident (not true). I didn't confirm my name and immediately hung up the phone. Definitely a SCAM.

Just called today to say that I can receive compensation from a road accident. I spoke to 3 different people. Two of which sounded of indian decent, one of british decent.
