Thank for for posting this. I just had a call from this number saying it was Origin, even when I turned off my caller ID & called back. These scammers are the bane of my existence!

Caller: Origin Energy Have been sitting on hold for over 20 mins trying to find out what the heck they want. I moved out of the house July 2022 and have proof of final bill payment so do not know why they're chasing me for an overdue bill now (no gas at current address)

Caller: Origin Energy Robocall I have turned off my voicemail so I don't get the same robotic call from Origin Energy every 3 hours every week day. It was chewing up my prepaid credit each time they left a message.

received a phone call today stating it was origin and to press 1, did not press 1 as unsure if it was a scam - as it was a robot voice.

Caller: “Origin Energy” A robocall claiming to be from Origin Energy. “Press 1 to continue”. I don’t think so.
Unable to confirm if it’s actually Origin, but I’m disinclined to engage with such robocalls.

Caller: Scammers Its a scam robocall, pretending to be Origin Energy. They want to know if you'll push "1" to continue. If you do, they hang up will start targeting you (from other numbers) with other phone scams i.e. you set yourself up as a potential "easy mark"

Caller: Origin, maybe All bills are paid immediately, weeks ago, yet they claim it’s not. Firstly, their English was f*cking awful. Secondly, asking for my bank details and “demanding” DIRECT DEBIT. f*ck off.

Caller: ORIGIN ENERGY I don't use origin , i never have or never will. I am happy with my provider . I get these calls all the time from a Sydney number , so I decided to answer one , first of all I can tell you the person i was speaking to was not in Australia, like the Philippines, then asked if they where speaking to me and asked me to verify my ID . hang on you called my mobile , so why don't you verify where you got my details from and why are you calling me??? . Then she tells me its in regards to a outstanding bill , funny thing was i told her where i was living, suburb only, I have lived for the last 43 years and where she told me was in another state! . two things i have not ever done , one is leave the state , two even leave the country . she then advised i have 48 hours to pay the bill or they will disconnect the power . disconnect it , its not even me or my house ..lol . How and where do they get these details???? , its only happened the last few weeks , and the sad thing i believe it to be a massive scam as some of the states are declared natural disaster areas . So next time another country is affected by war or natural disasters , think before you donate. if they would not assist us first why should we assist them . these people are called maggots and they feed on the rotten corpses of humanity . these people would live in a house with no mirrors , cause how could you look at your pitifully self.

Caller: I assume Origin Energy These idiots don't allow a connection, when scamming. hoping we will be dumb enough to return a missed call. Iuse my phone as a work tool. scammers should consider that they are just plain rude. and create a wish to leave their billing service. John

Caller: Someone Claiming to be Origin *** SCAM/FRAUD ALERT*** It is not Origin!! I am a Financial Counsellor in NSW and a Client contacted me claiming Origin called her on this number and there was an amount outstanding that she needed to pay immediately over the phone. Luckily my Client decided to contact me first and we contacted the Origin Hardship Department who stated that no one from Origin has called. Any from Origin no matter what Department will always leave notes. Origin has not called. This is clearly a scam to get credit card numbers over the phone. If you are caught out and scammed, because you gave out your credit card details, you are liable for the amount lost, not the bank.

Caller: Looks like Origin Energy judging from the other comments posted
I agree - I do not answer 'unknown callers' because there are so many scammers and generally unpleasant types around who hide their identities and hope to catch you off guard. What I really don't get is why organisations and even government institutions insist on not revealing their identities given the issues i raised above...also it is discourteous.
