Caller rang to say there are criminal charges against me.

This is a scam to steal your personal information and extort money from you. They vary the message. It's usually a threat from Mark Brown pretending to be from the Australian Tax Office. They threaten to arrest you. If anyone has anymore information please contact the police to help them catch these thieves.

I know someone who had a call saying she had defrauded AGL and the police were coming around to arrest her. She is 61 and her health is not great and the call really upset her. She is reporting it.

Same as all of the other comments, except this time 'Officer Mark Brown' was calling from AGL. Everything else is the same though

Had this call today from a very scripted message Mr Mark Brown. Tried calling back just to see what would happen, was ringing out no voice mail and on the second count- just rang and led to a busy tone. Obvious scam.

Had message from this number saying I had 4 warrants against me and possible arrest if I didn'T call back......

reckoned it was senior officer Mark Brown and if i didnt call back i would be arrested....

It would seem the ATO scam is still alive; I received a call from "Jason O'Connor" on 26 September 2016, 4:25 pm.

Had a call from a South African sounding bloke said his from ato saying I had done tax evasion laughed at him and told him where to go

Similar type of msg from "Jason O'Connor from Australian Taxation Office" threatening my Dad (in his eighties!!!) by saying there is a warrant issued for his arrest for unpaid tax. Dad's been retired over 10 years!!! Ignore the call. Thankful for this site to check for scammers such as this which are upsetting and annoying.

Number is now dealt with.

Had a call just now from "Jason O'Connor" left on my voicemail. It was a "no caller ID" number but left this number as a call back. He was claiming he was from the ATO and I had tax avasion ect .. Scam.. The nerve of some people!

Have had several of these lately, sounds recorded, threatening legal action and fines, says they are from ATO,don't get why these worms can't be shut down, how do they gain anything by doing this

As above! My wife took a message off our voicemail from this number saying it was Jason O'Connor from the ATO. What a load of rubbish.

Got a second call from this mob saying a "non-bailable" arrest warrant had been issued against my name for tax evasion or tax avoidance. Obvious scam. Had an American accent and used terms that are not Australian terms for legal issues.

Left a message on my answering machine, couldn't understand half of what he said but similar to what others are saying, when will someone stop these idiots?

Was called earlier this morning, by 'Jason O'Connor' from the ATO, that I am been looked at for defrauding someone and that the ATO was getting an arrest warrant issued for me etc, etc. As a number of others have mentioned here. My 'Jason O'Connor' has an Indian accent not American. These sorts of calls are a pain in the proverbial, surely Telstra can do something? Now that would novel...
