scammers chasing up "outstanding tax debit" that needs to be paid immediately. Just had them on the phone for half an hour tagging them along

I've had this guy leave me 4 msg now that I am wanted for tax avoidance never left who is wanted and to call back urgently, have reported to scam watch! I wish I could just get the number blocked it's starting to get annoying having daily calls from this Indian guy with an Aussie name!

Received one of these calls on my answer machine today, how dare these low lives use my Private phone to try and harrass me. Firstly as my only means of income is the age pension, I am not required to pay taxes, my taxes were all up to date before I went on the pension. Officer Kenneth Matthews still has a detectable Indian accent and is certainly doing no justice to the rest of India's Law Abiding citizens. Why the hell don't these people get jobs and earn their money honestly instead of trying to defraud the vulnerable.

Exactly.. why CAN'T these numbers be blocked?.. here in Victoria the ATO, Police, Consumer Affairs are all happy to take your report (around 11,000 a week I understand for this particular scam alone) but they can't or won't block a single number. Where the real scam here??....

I've had numerous calls from this and several other numbers with the same message as above. I now NEVER answer my phone unless I recognise the number is from someone I actually know. Thank goodness for caller ID which enables me to at least see the number calling unless it is PRIVATE. I also NEVER answer PRIVATE numbers. I'm really surprised there seems to be nothing that any of us can do to stop this sort of thing which really is ongoing harassment.

I've just had exactly the same message left on my answer phone. I rang the Tax office and reported it. ATO said the name changes all the time. I just worry that there are vulnerable people out there who could be taken in by such a scam.

Same as the above. The voice is obviously Indian and been put through a voice changer. That's why I won't do business with any Indian phone callers AT ALL, as 99% of Indian callers to my home are scammers. The Indian government tolerates these criminals, but it is their legitimate citizens who suffer the loss of credibility. Any legitimate call centre using Indian staff to cold-call is crazy as I fell it is perfectly reasonable to assume they are just another scammer.

it's OBVIOUSLY a scam

Scammer - got a taped message from "Kenneth Matthews" from the "CDPP" in Canberra - that there was a legal case launched against me (although he never states the name of whom the message is for!) and for me to call this number without delay and not to ignore the message. Sounds like a voice generator.
Same scam was reported last year with a different phone number.

Received a message - really nasty tone. Very much like the above. Unsettling at first then realised it was a horrid scam.

Particularly nasty message left on phone from 'officer Kenneth Matthews' saying there is a legal case against me for tax avoidance or tax evasion. Threatening harsh tone, played over it became obvious it was machine altered, very nasty and upsetting until I found this site. Thanks everyone for reporting it and making it less distressing for me., had called twice yesterday and once today before leaving message. How do these people know it is older people at home and how do they get our numbers.

Why can't these criminals be stopped?

Received the same BS 'Officer Ken Matthews' call here on 24.8.16 @ 1646. Though the accent of the male 'machine caller' hard to determine, it wasn't obviously subcontinental, as they often are. It almost sounded machine-generated or machine-altered. Ain't all this new technology wonderful?

this guy is annoying, im on the do not call register but overseas calls seem to still make their way and annoy me and the Australian Public. Everyone should get an answering machine and not answer unless they know them. Telco's need to block these numbers once they are known.

Definitely a scam.
