I have now had 3 phone calls from these people claiming to be from Freedom Insurance. They wanted me to hand over my full name and date of birth (which made me suspicious in the first place) but would not let me know what they wanted to talk about. I ended up ringing Freedom Insurance on their 1300 number and they knew nothing about the calls. Number has now been blocked on my phone

It is Freedom Insurance. My mother passed away and my son, who was devastated when his beloved Nana died suddenly, took the phone number, and the phone. These calls began in April, I complained and the calls did not stop, I complained again, still did not stop, when going through my mother's papers there was nothing about a Freedom Insurance policy, so when I took the phone for the day I asked what was going on, are you...... no well I can't talk to you I must speak with .... privacy I am sure you understand. NO I DO NOT, the person has passed away, stop this harassment. We figured out how to block the calls on the mobile and now they are calling my father on the home phone. This has got to stop. I have spoken with Freedom again this morning and if I have to I will make a complaint to the Ombudsman. I understand that these people need to have a job, rather than stay on the dole, however this is invasive.

Got a call from this number. Picked up. They hung up! If you didn't want to talk to me why call in the first place. Blocked the number now based on the comments before mine. Thanks everyone for sharing this information so I don't have to go through this multiple times.

I have a freedom insurance plan already and this is the second time they've called me today. If they continue to harass me, I will cancel my policy altogether.

couple of notes about Freedom Funeral Insurance 1. Uses Indian call centre to initially spruik for your contact details, first they say "this call is being recorded" 2. Aussie call centre rings you back, almost immediately saying "this call is being recorded" 3. Any name and bank account number you give Freedom Insurance and they will begin deducting fortnightly payments for funeral insurance straight away, If you know somebody elses details, you can sign them up without their permission or knowledge. Freedom Insurance never checks validity of caller their priority is to get the money out of the bank account. 4. Data given to any of the telemarketers is shared across networks, days later unsolicited phone calls begin, more telemarketers, especially asking for the name which was provided to them in the phonecalls. 5. Judging from what you find searching google, it is virtually impossible to claim for a funeral if you are physically deceased or have no family aware you have a funeral insurance policy.
