Caller: Google (But not really Google) just a third party increase profits for Google Caller This is becoming more well known in the Industry. I manage a list of client Google Ad Accounts. The setting on these accounts are set to 'Private' which tells Google that we don't require assistance on these accounts. We still receive unsolicited calls and when we mention that our account is set to 'Private' they disappear.
Yes, these callers are giving you a few tips and how to improve your campaigns BUT... their main goal is to get yo to spend more $$$ and they are constantly calling other businesses doing the same which is just a constant cycle of everyone increasing spend to get in front of each other.... the only one that benefits is Google.
Great for Google's back pocket, not for their customers.
It's a real shame that this tactic has been pushed out to the world.

Caller: Google It's AdWords - but as the other poster said, they are basically telemarketers. They are there to help you spend more on AdWords. That's basically it - spend more. I have dealt with them many times over the years and not once have their suggestions made any difference whatsoever except to increase spend. I now block their calls and add the to my spam list as they are in my "time wasters" basket.
The sad thing is that they have very little knowledge of how the monopolistic Google AdWords really functions. It's a black box with a goal of making you spend more. You can be number 1 on Google organic results, yet AdWords can give you a poor quality score and charge you $50 per click because your domain is "not relevant" - despite being number 1 on organic search. It's a massive con job by Google. They have it over the world unfortunately.
Don't even get me started on the excessive amount of click-fraud that is dead obvious. Yet for all Googles "sophistication" they still charge you. Why on earth would they prevent it when they are the sole beneficiary of it? They are making far too much money off of dishonest practices. It's quite sad to see the world so utterly reliant on them. You can forget a startup coming along and challenging them. You need at least 10's of billions in infrastructure. Dear VC, please write me a $10 billion check so I can compete with the worlds largest monopoly....

Have called my place of work three in an hour requesting to speak to me, however I do not promote my employment so I do not know how they would know who I am and where I work.

Caller: Claiming to be Google They claim they are from Google Ad Words, however when i started to question them, they appear to be a marketing company, who want to check my Google Performance, and want to make it better 'free of charge' , however it's not free but the end of it. Not to mentioned they are dishonest from the start by not stating who they really are. Eventually hung up on them, as they never provided their full company name. Spam or someone trying to get access to my google account and information. Don't trust !!!

Caller: Not Google Adwords Indian guy said he was from Google Adwords. However gave me three different names on "My Account" to which I've never heard of any three names nor is our business big enough for me to be confused with staff names. He also gave me three different business names that are linked to my account. Nuisance Caller, as we don't have a google adword account nor will we ever.

They called about an account I no longer manage, which makes me worry about the quality of their team.
Secondly, don't let them touch your account! I've dealt with clients who have used these overseas optimisation teams and they were all terrible and didn't even follow the most basic AdWords principles.

They are from Google (based offshore, better than the Google partners who pretend to be from Google) and start calling you after you start using Google AdWords. They can be pretty helpful, though call too often for my liking, at least once a month.
