Said they were returning my call about setting up the nbn. As I didn't call them I hung up. They have now called twice.

Caller: Telstra - NBN Legit. A follow up call to make sure that an NBN connection had been successful. It hadn't. Had already escalated to get an NBN technician later this week.

I agree with previous comments why would you give details to someone with an Indian accent. Unfortunately many scams are carried out by people sounding very similar to the genuine telstra people at their call centres. Did not answer once I heard the accent

Caller: (02) 8260 0000 I am about to install the modem which arrived today from Telstra (or their supplier). This afternoon received a call from this number claiming to be from Telstra quoting my name and asking if my "hardware" had arrived, and if it was working OK. Told her it had arrived but I had not set it up yet. Then was asked for my birthdate. At that point I told them that they had called me and should not have to check my identity. Told her that this was 99% likely to be a scam, and that it was indeed genuine, I would be prepared to suffer the consequences and ended the call. Rang the number back and git the familiar "Thank you for calling Telstra" message then ended the call. I expect that anyone could record Telstra's greeting and then use it for nefarious purposes. Looks like a total scam.

Caller: (02) 8260 0000 I, like many other people, were given the 1800 834 273 number to ring regarding my NBN connection (which has already been done, incidentally!). Even though there are messages on here stating that the numbers are legitimate Telstra numbers, you'd have to be a bit thick to believe that! What's to stop the scammers themselves from getting on this site and making out that they're ordinary customers (in order to convince other customers that it's OK to call the scammer's own number)? If they ARE legitimate Telstra employees, when is Telstra going to get it through their thick heads that it's counter-productive for them to be using Asian-accented callers, who then ask you to supply your date-of-birth before they'll discuss anything with you?

Caller: Someone claiming to be Telstra I have left Telstra and I'm pretty annoyed that they contacted me talking about completing my NBN connection. They must know I am with another provider and on NBN because I no longer have a landline service with them.
This is a legitimate Australian company, but still a scam.

Let call go to voicemail. Caller claimed they were from Telstra ringing about an NBN order and gave a 1800 number to call and a job no. Obviously a scam because: 1. they rang on my mobile (an Optus phone) 2. the landline at home was connected to NBN through Optus years ago 3. the landline at home isn't in my name

Caller: (02) 8260 0000 THIS NUMBER IS A SCAM. My mobile received calls and voicemails from this number three days straight, before I blocked it on the mobile. But, the mongrels are still ringing and leaving the same message claiming to be "Telstra ringing about your NBN order". I have no "order" or business with NBN, and rang Telstra and confirmed that this NOT a number used by Telstra.

Cold calling from Telstra, regarding the NBN. Not a scam. It's Telstra trying to get you to sell you their NBN service.
